The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database administration and a deep understanding of DB2 technologies. This role involves ensuring the reliability, availability, and security of our database systems to support business operations. Working experience on SAP systemsKey Responsibilities:Database Installation and Configuration:oInstall and configure DB2 database servers and clients.oImplement database instances, databases, and table spaces.Database Maintenance:oPerform routine maintenance tasks, including database backups, recovery, and data integrity checks.oApply patches, updates, and upgrades to DB2 software.Performance Tuning:oMonitor and optimize database performance, including query optimization, indexing, and resource allocation.oAnalyze and resolve performance issues to ensure efficient operation.Security Management:oImplement and manage database security measures, including user access controls and data encryption.oEnsure compliance with organizational and regulatory security requirements.Troubleshooting and Support:oProvide technical support and troubleshooting for database-related issues.oCollaborate with other IT teams and stakeholders to resolve complex problems.Backup and Recovery:oDevelop and execute backup and recovery strategies to protect data.oTest and validate backup procedures to ensure data recoverability.Documentation and Reporting:oMaintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for database configurations, procedures, and policies.oGenerate and analyze reports on database performance, usage, and security.Capacity Planning:oMonitor database growth and usage trends.oPlan for future database capacity requirements and scalability.Compliance and Best Practices:oEnsure databases adhere to industry best practices and organizational standards.oStay current with emerging DB2 technologies and industry trends.Migration and UpgradesoDatabase upgrades (Version Upgrades)oDatabase Migration Qualifications:Education:oBachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered.Experience:oMinimum 6+ years of experience as a DB2 Database Administrator or similar role.oHands-on experience with DB2 for [z/OS/Linux/Unix/Windows], including version [specific versions if applicable]. Skills: oProficiency in DB2 installation, configuration, and administration.oStrong understanding of database performance tuning and optimization.oExperience with SQL and database query optimization.oKnowledge of backup and recovery techniques.oUpgrade and migration knowledgeoFamiliarity with scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Python) for automation.oExcellent problem-solving and analytical skills.oStrong communication and interpersonal skills.Certifications:oRelevant DB2 certifications (e.g., IBM Certified Database Administrator DB2) are a plus.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with other database management systems (e.g., Informix, Oracle, SQL Server).Knowledge of cloud-based database solutions.Familiarity with DevOps practices SAP systems and tools.Good to have knowledge on Informix Qualification 15 years full time education
