Key Responsibilities:
APC Development and OptimizationDesign, develop, and configure APC solutions specific to Paper & Pulp operations (e.g., digester, bleaching, drying, and stock preparation units).Develop and optimize APC algorithms, models, and control strategies with a focus on performance enhancement.Build and maintain a templatization framework for APC deployments to enable faster rollout and standardization across plants.Provide domain guidance to development teams to ensure APC solutions align with process and operational requirements.IT/OT System IntegrationLead the seamless integration of APC platforms with OT systems (DCS, PLC, SCADA) and IT systems (MES, ERP, Data Historian, Cloud).Develop and validate end-to-end data flow across systems, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and cybersecurity compliance.Implement and maintain APIs, OPC UA/DA interfaces, and secure data pipelines for real-time analytics and reporting.Leverage knowledge of different APC products to identify integration points and interoperability approaches.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with process engineers, IT teams, cybersecurity, and OEM partners.
- Provide technical leadership in digital transformation projects involving APC.
- Train plant personnel on APC usage and troubleshooting.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure APC systems comply with industry standards and cybersecurity protocols.
- Maintain detailed documentation of system architecture, configurations, and integration workflows.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Control, Automation, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in APC implementation in paper & pulp or similar process industries.
- Strong knowledge of APC platforms (e.g., Honeywell Profit Controller, ABB OPT800, Aspen DMCplus).
- Experience with OT/IT integration technologies (OPC, MQTT, REST APIs, edge computing).
- Familiarity with industrial protocols and cybersecurity standards (ISA-95, ISA/IEC 62443).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with cloud-based industrial platforms (e.g., AWS)
- Knowledge of data analytics tools (Python, R, Power BI) for process optimization.
- Certifications in APC or industrial automation platforms.
