As an experienced Alation Data Catalog Expert, your role will involve designing, implementing, and managing the enterprise data catalog platform. Your responsibilities will include driving data discovery, governance, lineage, and stewardship initiatives to enable business and technical teams to trust, access, and leverage data effectively. The ideal candidate for this role will possess strong metadata management, SQL, and governance skills, as well as hands-on experience in Alation configuration, integration, and adoption strategies. Key Responsibilities: - Lead the implementation, configuration, and administration of the Alation Data Catalog. - Manage metadata ingestion and curation from various sources such as databases, BI tools, cloud warehouses, and data lakes. - Build and maintain business glossaries, taxonomies, and governance policies within the Alation platform. - Define and configure roles, permissions, and security policies including SSO, LDAP, Entra ID, etc. - Establish and maintain data lineage and impact analysis within the catalog. - Collaborate with data stewards, analysts, engineers, and governance teams to ensure consistent metadata enrichment. - Develop training and enablement programs to promote adoption across both business and technical teams. - Leverage APIs, scripting (Python/REST), and automation to extend the functionality of Alation and integrate it with other tools. - Monitor platform performance, usage, and adoption metrics to continuously enhance effectiveness. - Stay informed about the latest features of Alation such as the Agentic Platform and AI-driven automation, and provide recommendations for enhancements.
