Detect flaws, inclusions, or irregularities that affect the value of stones. Match gemstones for consistency in color and size for sets or jewelry pieces. Maintain records and inventory of sorted gemstones. Collaborate with gemologists, jewelers, designers, or procurement teams. Follow safety and handling procedures for delicate or high-value stones. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent; certification or training in gemology (e.g., GIA, IGI) preferred. 1+ years of experience in gemstone sorting, quality control, or jewelry manufacturing. Excellent vision and attention to detail. Familiarity with gemstone types, properties, and valuation factors. Manual dexterity and precision handling small objects.
