Job Description

Role & responsibilities

1. Academic Planning & Curriculum Management

  • Align curriculum with national/state board guidelines (CBSE, ISC, IB, etc., as applicable).
  • Develop yearly academic plans, term-wise syllabi, and pacing guides for Grade 11 and 12 subjects.
  • Coordinate with department heads and subject teachers to ensure vertical alignment from Grade 10 to 12.
  • Monitor timely syllabus completion and adjust plans when needed.
  • Review and update academic materials, resources, and textbooks.

2. TeachingLearning Quality Assurance

  • Conduct regular classroom observations and provide feedback to teachers.
  • Organize demonstration classes, peer observations, and teaching workshops.
  • Ensure effective use of teaching methodologies suitable for senior secondary students, including inquiry-based and exam-oriented approaches.
  • Support differentiated instruction for diverse learners.

3. Assessment & Examination Management

  • Design the yearly assessment schedule (unit tests, midterms, pre-boards, board exams).
  • Coordinate creation, moderation, and standardization of question papers.
  • Oversee exam conduction procedures to ensure fairness and compliance with board norms.
  • Analyze assessment data and track student academic progress.
  • Implement strategies to improve board exam performance.

4. Student Academic Support

  • Identify students needing academic intervention through performance data.
  • Plan and coordinate remedial classes, enrichment programs, and study groups.
  • Provide career and academic counseling support in collaboration with counselors.
  • Conduct orientation sessions on exam preparation, time management, and study skills.

5. Teacher Coordination & Professional Development

  • Facilitate regular departmental meetings to review academic progress.
  • Mentor teachers in lesson planning, assessment design, and pedagogy.
  • Organize training sessions, workshops, and professional development programs.
  • Promote collaborative planning among teachers of different subject groups.

6. Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a bridge between school management, teachers, students, and parents.
  • Conduct parent meetings, academic review sessions, and progress briefings.
  • Communicate academic policies, schedules, and expectations clearly to all stakeholders.
  • Prepare academic reports and updates for school leadership.

7. Compliance, Documentation & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with board regulations, circulars, and academic standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of assessments, results, attendance, and academic plans.
  • Prepare board exam-related documentation and support the registration process.
  • Coordinate external audits, inspections, or accreditation processes.

8. Coordination of Co-Academic Activities

  • Support planning of Olympiads, competitions, exhibitions, and academic events.
  • Integrate career guidance programs, guest lectures, and university orientation sessions.
  • Promote participation in subject-specific clubs or academic societies.

9. School Leadership & Administrative Support

  • Assist in timetable planning and teacher workload distribution for Grades 11 and 12.
  • Support implementation of school policies and disciplinary systems.
  • Participate in strategic planning discussions for senior school improvement.
  • Provide crisis management support during academic or examination challenges.

10. Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Regularly review academic performance trends and implement improvement plans.
  • Introduce innovative practicessmart learning tools, digital platforms, blended learning.
  • Encourage data-driven decision-making to enhance academic outcomes.

Preferred candidate profile

1. Educational Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant subject OR in Education (M.Ed.).
  • B.Ed. or equivalent mandatory in most school systems.
  • Additional certifications in educational leadership, curriculum design, or assessment practices (preferred).
  • Familiarity with the respective board curriculum (CBSE/ISC/IB/Cambridge) is highly desirable.

2. Professional Experience

  • 5–10 years of teaching experience

    at the senior secondary level (Grades 11 & 12).
  • Proven track record of

    excellent board exam results

    .
  • At least

    2–3 years in an academic leadership role

    such as coordinator, HOD, lead teacher, or equivalent.
  • Experience in mentoring teachers, organizing training, or leading academic initiatives.
