2D Echo Technician

1.

Prepare patients for 2D echocardiography procedures, explain the process and address any questions or concerns. Ensure patients are in the appropriate position for imaging.

2.

Perform 2D echocardiograms to visualize and record the structures and functions of the heart, including chambers, valves, blood flow and wall motion.

3.

Adjust the ultrasound equipment settings to optimize image quality and obtain clear and accurate images of the heart.

4.

Position the transducer (ultrasound probe) on the patient's chest, ribs, or other designated areas to obtain specific views of the heart.

5.

Utilize Doppler techniques, such as color Doppler and spectral Doppler, to assess blood flow and detect any abnormalities or restrictions.

6.

Assist in stress echocardiography tests, which may involve exercise or medication to evaluate heart function under stress conditions.

7.

Administer contrast agents when necessary to improve imaging of certain heart structures or blood flow.

8.

Accurately document and store echocardiography images, patient information and any abnormalities observed during testing.

9.

Maintain and calibrate echocardiography equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.

10.

Provide instructions to patients on the purpose of the test, what to expect during the procedure and post-procedure care.

11.

Assist in analyzing echocardiography data and collaborating with cardiologists to interpret the results.

12.

Collaborate closely with cardiologists, nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient and effective patient care.

13.

Follow safety protocols and infection control measures to protect patients and staff during procedures.

14.

Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives to maintain high standards of patient care and accurate test results.

Required Skill Sets:

1. Strong knowledge of echocardiography equipment and diagnostic procedures.

2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for patient interaction and collaboration with the healthcare team.
