2D Designer

You are a skilled 2D Designer with a strong understanding of production design, tasked with creating accurate, detailed, and practical drawings for manufacturing and fabrication purposes. Your role involves bridging the gap between creative concepts and technical execution on the shop floor. Your key responsibilities include preparing detailed 2D technical drawings, shop drawings, and layouts using AutoCAD or similar software. You will convert design concepts into production-ready drawings with all necessary specifications such as materials, dimensions, and joineries. Collaboration with design, production, and project teams is essential to understand technical requirements and ensure feasibility. Creating cutting lists, material take-offs, assembly diagrams, and bill of materials (BOM) for production use is also part of your role. It is crucial to ensure that all designs align with production capabilities and standards. You will be required to revise drawings based on client feedback or site requirements, maintain version control, and organize drawing documentation for each project. Additionally, conducting quality checks of drawings to eliminate errors before handoff to production is vital. To excel in this position, you should possess a Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Drafting, Industrial Design, Interior Design, or a related field. A minimum of 2 years of experience as a 2D designer in a production-focused environment, such as furniture, signage, joinery, or metal/wood fabrication, is required. Proficiency in AutoCAD is necessary, and knowledge of SketchUp, SolidWorks, or Adobe Illustrator is advantageous. You must have a strong understanding of materials, fabrication processes, and production techniques, along with the ability to interpret and create technical drawings that align with practical production needs. Being detail-oriented, with good communication and problem-solving skills, is essential. You should be capable of working under tight deadlines and managing multiple projects simultaneously. Preferred experience includes working in interior fit-outs, exhibition stands, furniture production, or custom product manufacturing.
