Role Overview We are looking for a Field Application Engineer – IIoT / Automation who will work closely with our manufacturing customers to understand their machines' data communication capabilities and integrate them with Zometric's cloud APIs. You will be the crucial link between factory equipment (CNCs, PLCs, sensors) and our cloud analytics platform, helping customers achieve real-time visibility into their operations. Key Responsibilities Visit manufacturing plants to assess machine communication interfaces (RS232, RS485, Ethernet, OPC, MQTT, Modbus, etc.) Capture and document data points available from machines (e.g., tool offsets, alarms, production counts, temperature, etc.) Configure edge gateways or data collection software to transmit machine data securely to Zometric Cloud APIs Support customer teams in testing and validating data integration with our platform Troubleshoot machine connectivity issues in coordination with OEMs or factory IT/automation teams Document machine types, protocols, IPs/ports, and setup SOPs for scale deployments Collaborate with Zometric's engineering team to enhance device driver libraries and integration toolkits Train customer engineers and operators on basic usage and maintenance of the setup Qualifications Diploma/Bachelor’s in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or related field Understanding of machine communication protocols (RS232/485, Modbus, OPC UA, TCP/IP, etc.) Familiarity with data acquisition systems, PLCs, CNCs, and industrial automation Basic experience with Python or Linux-based tools is a plus Willingness to travel to manufacturing sites across India Strong documentation and communication skills Nice to Have Experience working with edge devices like Raspberry Pi, gateways, or PLC-connected IPCs Exposure to SCADA/MES systems or manufacturing IT infrastructure Knowledge of industrial networking (switches, firewalls, IP configuration) Why Join Us?
