Job Summary: The senior design modelling engineer is responsible for leading the design and development of high-quality, complex models for various projects, including product design, engineering systems, or architectural components. The role involves translating conceptual designs into detailed models that can be used for analysis, prototyping, and production. The senior-level position requires strong technical expertise, experience with advanced modelling software, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure design integrity and accuracy. Duties and Responsibilities: Develop and refine 3D models and detailed designs for complex components, systems, or products. Work closely with engineers, architects, and designers to interpret project requirements and translate them into functional, manufacturable designs. Lead the design modelling efforts for large-scale or high complexity projects, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project specifications. Utilize advanced CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit to create models, simulations, and detailed technical drawings. Review and validate models for functionality, feasibility, and manufacturability. Conduct design iterations based on feedback from engineering teams, clients, or testing processes. Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and best practices. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior modelers and design team members. Collaborate with project managers to establish timelines, set goals, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Maintain an up-to-date understanding of modelling trends, tools, and best practices. Perform design reviews, presenting complex design solutions to stakeholders, and addressing any feedback or changes. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial design, architecture, or related field. 7+ years in design modelling, with a proven track record of working on complex projects. Advanced proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit CATIA, Rhino). Strong understanding of engineering principles, material properties, and manufacturing processes. Experience with parametric modelling, surface modelling, and simulations. Knowledge of design standards and regulations relevant to the industry (e.g., ASME, ISO, or architectural codes). Skills and Competencies: Advanced 3D modelling skills with a high level of detail and precision. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to interpret complex design briefs and technical requirements. Excellent communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
