As a Geo-Mechanical Modelling Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to lead and execute advanced geo-mechanical modelling and analysis for subsurface projects by integrating rock mechanics, CFD, and geotechnical engineering principles. Your role will involve developing robust numerical simulations to evaluate subsurface behavior under various operational scenarios to ensure safety, efficiency, and performance of drilling, production, and reservoir activities. You will lead end-to-end geo-mechanical modelling efforts for subsurface assets and projects. This will include performing engineering mechanics calculations using tools like FLAC3D, Ansys, or equivalent numerical simulators. You will also conduct CFD modelling to assess fluid-rock interactions and pressure-temperature regimes. Your expertise will be crucial in interpreting field data, core samples, and lab test results to calibrate models. Collaboration with cross-functional teams such as Reservoir Engineering, Drilling, Production, and Petrophysics will be essential in providing insights into wellbore stability, sand production, fracture propagation, and fault reactivation. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical development programs. Additionally, preparing technical reports, risk assessments, and presenting findings to stakeholders will be part of your routine. To excel in this role, you should hold a Bachelors or Masters degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience in geo-mechanical modelling and analysis is required, along with proficiency in FLAC3D, Ansys, and CFD simulation tools. Strong grounding in engineering mechanics and numerical methods is necessary, as well as the ability to interpret and integrate multi-disciplinary data sets. Excellent communication and project management skills will also be beneficial. Preferred experience includes prior work in Oil & Gas, Mining, or Energy sectors, exposure to field development planning and risk mitigation in challenging subsurface environments, and experience with advanced material models and coupled fluid-solid interaction analysis.
