Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role located in Jalandhar for a Website Maintenance Specialist. The specialist will be responsible for the upkeep, troubleshooting, and enhancement of the university's website. Daily responsibilities include performing regular website maintenance, optimizing website functionality, conducting updates, ensuring the robustness of the platform, implementing preventive measures, and resolving technical issues promptly. The role involves working collaboratively with the IT and communications teams to maintain a seamless online user experience.

Job Summary

Senior Website Maintenance Specialist

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day maintenance of corporate websites, ensuring uptime, performance, and reliability
• Lead website updates, patches, and upgrades (CMS, plugins, frameworks, and integrations)
• Monitor and resolve advanced technical issues, including server, database, and front-end/back-end errors
• Implement and manage website security measures, backups, and disaster recovery plans
• Optimize website performance, page speed, accessibility, and SEO best practices
• Ensure cross-browser and cross-device compatibility
• Manage hosting environments, domains, SSL certificates, and CDN configurations
• Collaborate with design, content, marketing, and development teams on site enhancements
• Review and approve code changes, deployments, and release schedules
• Maintain documentation for website architecture, processes, and troubleshooting guides
• Mentor junior web administrators or developers as needed
• Stay current with emerging web technologies, security threats, and industry standards

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of experience in website maintenance, web administration, or web development
• Strong experience with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, or similar)
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript; familiarity with PHP, Python, or similar languages
• Experience with web hosting environments, Linux servers, and cloud platforms
• Strong understanding of website security, performance optimization, and SEO fundamentals
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with e-commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment tools
• Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG)
• Experience managing multiple websites or enterprise-scale platforms
