Job Title: Estimation & Tendering Engineer Warehousing & Industrial Construction Job Location: Mumbai HO Department: Estimation & Tendering Industry: Warehousing & Industrial Construction Reporting To: Head – Estimation & Contracts Job Summary: The Estimation & Tendering Engineer plays a crucial role in cost estimation, bid preparation, and tender management for large-scale warehousing and industrial construction projects across India. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, market awareness, and the ability to develop competitive and profitable bid strategies . The ideal candidate will have experience in pricing, risk assessment, and vendor negotiations to ensure accurate and cost-effective proposals. Key Responsibilities: 1. Cost Estimation & BOQ Preparation Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates covering civil, structural, MEPF (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing & Firefighting), and finishing works . Conduct quantity take-offs and rate analysis from project drawings, specifications, and tender documents. Collaborate with design, procurement, and project execution teams to ensure feasibility of cost estimates. Identify cost-saving measures, alternative materials, and value engineering opportunities to optimize pricing. 2. Tender Management & Bid Preparation Compile and submit tenders , ensuring full compliance with client requirements, technical specifications, and commercial terms. Review contract documents , highlight risk factors, and propose mitigation strategies before bid submission. Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for materials, labor, and specialized works. Prepare tender clarifications, presentations, and post-bid negotiations with clients and stakeholders. 3. Market Research & Cost Benchmarking Monitor market trends, material price fluctuations, and labor costs to ensure competitive and up-to-date estimates. Build and maintain a database of reliable vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors for optimized costing. Evaluate historical cost data from past projects to refine future bid strategies. 4. Risk Assessment & Commercial Analysis Identify potential cost overruns, scope gaps, and risk factors that could impact project profitability. Conduct financial feasibility studies to ensure tenders are commercially viable. Work closely with the finance and legal teams to assess the commercial impact of contract clauses and liabilities. 5. Tender Follow-up & Negotiations Track and maintain records of all submitted tenders, bid responses, and client interactions. Assist in post-tender clarifications, negotiations, and contract finalization . Develop win-loss analysis to refine bidding strategies for future tenders. Key Requirements: Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field. 6-8 years of experience in cost estimation, tendering, and bid preparation within the warehousing and industrial construction sector . Strong exposure to large-scale EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) and Design-Build projects . Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimation and costing tools (e.g., Candy, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, MS Excel, ERP software). Strong understanding of BOQ preparation, rate analysis, and cost control methodologies . Experience in tender documentation, contract evaluation, and bid pricing strategies . Knowledge of government and private sector tendering procedures . Familiarity with Indian construction standards, taxation, and regulatory frameworks . Soft Skills: Analytical & detail-oriented – ensures precise cost estimation and contract compliance. Negotiation & communication – liaises effectively with vendors, clients, and internal teams. Problem-solving mindset – anticipates challenges and proposes cost-effective solutions. Time management & multitasking – manages multiple tenders and meets tight submission deadlines. Team player – collaborates across multiple departments for seamless project execution. Working Conditions: Office-based role with periodic site visits for tender-related assessments.
