VP, Chief Controls Office - Barclays International India
Be part of the Chief Controls Office (CCO) within the Chief Operating Office, driving an effective control environment across Barclays India Branch and supporting the APAC Markets BCO function. This is a senior leadership role focused on strengthening governance, risk management, and controls across critical business functions.
In This Role, You Will
Risk & Control Leadership
- Lead the articulation and execution of risk and control requirements for the India Branch and APAC BCO function.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of risk assessment and control frameworks.
- Ensure adherence to Barclays internal control standards, regulatory policies, and governance mandates.
- Drive remediation activities for regulatory, audit, or self-identified issues.
Governance, Reporting & Advisory
- Partner with senior stakeholders (COO, CGO, Business Heads) to provide expert advisory on risk, controls, and regulatory issues.
- Drive consistent governance, categorisation, reporting and oversight of risk/control matters across Markets, Treasury, Finance, Risk, and Chief Business Offices.
- Prepare high-quality risk/control packs and MIS for senior management and regulatory requirements.
Regulatory & Audit Management
- Lead interactions with internal/external auditors (2nd line, 3rd line).
- Support regulatory submissions, control-related returns, enquiries, and regulatory reviews.
- Ensure controls framework alignment with firmwide operational risk and ERMF/ORF standards.
Strategic Projects & Enhancements
- Lead control initiatives to ensure the business effectively manages operational and conduct risks.
- Provide input on new/existing control enhancements and thematic reviews.
- Develop new approaches for risk assessment and structured, sustainable solutions embedded into business processes.
Country-Level Control Oversight
- Support the Chief Governance Officer and Chief Controls Officer, India, on country-level controls, governance, and local initiatives.
- Oversee legal entities under India Branch where applicable.

Basic / Essential Qualifications
- Extensive experience embedding risk and control frameworks in a matrix organisation.
- Proven experience partnering with senior stakeholders across functions and geographies.
- Strong analytical ability with a methodical, judgement-driven approach.
- Experience in risk events, issue management, control assessments, remediation, and governance.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF)
- Operational Risk Framework (ORF)
- Controls and audit requirements
- Indian Financial Services regulatory landscape
Desirable Skills / Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with data analytics tools and techniques.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple global teams and functions.
- Prior exposure to process improvement, thematic reviews, and large-scale remediation programs.

The Markets Business Control Partners are the specialist 1st line of defence team that work directly with the line of business heads and aligned functions to design, develop, implement and maintain an efficient and effective controls framework and environment across the business.Overall purpose of roleThe role is a VP role within the India Bank Branch entity. While the role will primarily support the Markets Business(Trading & Sales) encompassing Rates, FX & Credit Businesses in India, it will form part of the regional APAC Markets BCO function and will also support the wider APAC BCO team in their control objectives for the overall APAC Markets Business where necessary.
