As an Application Engineer, your key responsibilities are to: Commission standardized, as well as pilot (not yet fully standardized), applications and software systems into complex industrial automation system landscapes in the paper industry, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance. Configure and optimize all applications purchased by the customer, either on- premise or as-a-service, tailoring them to meet specific requirements and cus- tomer standards. Develop projects to improve the usability of platforms and applications, as well as provide our Team with new tools we can use to improve our services. Collaborate closely with your peers in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd level support organiza- tions, providing exceptional back-office support and troubleshooting assistance to customers. Conduct comprehensive system testing to verify and validate software functional- ity, performance, and reliability. Provide technical training and guidance to customers, fostering positive relation- ships and ensuring long-term client satisfaction. Determine and define requirements for the system and products in advance in consultation with the customer. Develop and perform AI-supported data analytics in conjunction Papermak- ing/Process Technologists within the scope of our service offerings. Engage in know-how transfer from R&D to the OPL for newly developed Products and document processes, procedures, and system configurations, ensuring accu- rate and accessible records. Expand and keep up-to-date our internal project documentation related templates and contribute to continuous improvement of our processes & tools. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously improve the quality of service. As an Application Engineer, you will need: Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. A minimum of 3 years of experience in software system commissioning, configura- tion, and support, preferably in the paper industry. Strong technical skills, including proficiency in industrial automation systems and software applications as well as industrial network protocols. Excellent problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detail. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to a diverse audience. Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Willingness to travel as needed for commissioning projects and customer support. Able to work in network structures and cross-functional, multi-cultural teams.
