VMC Programmer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented 5-Axis VMC Programmer to join our orthopedic implant manufacturing team. The candidate will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining advanced CNC programs for 5-Axis Vertical Machining Centers (VMCs), ensuring the precision machining of complex, high-quality orthopedic components that meet international medical standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs (G-code/M-code) for 3, 4, and 5-Axis VMC machines.
• Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and 3D assemblies to generate efficient toolpaths.
• Define machining parameters, cutting tools, spindle speeds, and feed rates for high-precision implants.
• Simulate, verify, and validate toolpaths in CAM software (NX Unigraphics, Mastercam, HyperMill, or equivalent) to avoid errors and collisions.
• Collaborate with machine setters and operators during setup, trials, and process improvements.
• Troubleshoot program-related issues and ensure dimensional accuracy within micron-level tolerances.
• Optimize cycle times, surface finish, tool life, and machine utilization for efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with medical-grade quality standards (ISO 13485, FDA, CE).
• Prepare and maintain program libraries, setup sheets, and technical documentation.
• Work closely with Quality Assurance and R&D/Engineering teams for process validation, prototyping, and continuous improvements.
• Involve in the design and development of jigs, fixtures, and clamping methods for orthopaedic components.

Experience & Qualifications

• 2–4 years of proven experience as a VMC Programmer with 5-Axis machining in precision manufacturing (preferably orthopedic implants, aerospace, or medical devices).
• Proficiency in NX Unigraphics, Mastercam, or other advanced CAM software for multi-axis programming.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, CNC machining strategies, and precision engineering principles.
• Hands-on expertise in machining medical-grade materials like titanium alloys, stainless steel, and cobalt-chrome.
• ITI / Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
