The Database Architect role is pivotal in establishing our Database as A Service model for cloud-based and on-premises database deployments. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned: Participate in a global team of Database Architects, Engineers, and Administrators. Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation. Automate the provisioning and management of database infrastructure for Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and other database engines. Provide hands-on technical support across various on-premises and cloud-based database offerings. Deploy configurations, database settings, parameters, patching, and tools on multiple instances using Ansible playbooks to manage database configurations, apply patches, and deploy necessary tools. Integrate Service Catalog of Service Now/First with Terraform and Ansible to automate requests. Provision databases on Kubernetes (Tanzu & EKS) containers using IaC. Integrate Terraform code repository with CI/CD Platform on Gitlab or GitHub. Utilize database monitoring technologies for on-premises and cloud-based databases, including SolarWinds, RDS Console, CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, Cloudera Manager, or custom scripts to track performance metrics and detect issues. Provide experience with enterprise backup and recovery tools and techniques for full, incremental, online, offline, and transaction log backups. Collaborate with IT teams and business partners to identify and implement opportunities to improve database performance, reliability, scalability, and availability. Demonstrate willingness to contribute, learn, and grow as a member of a team that supports a variety of technologies. Required Knowledge and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree Minimum of 8 - 12 years Sr Database experience as Architect, Engineer or App DBA. Minimum of 4-6 years of experience with Infrastructure as Code skills, utilizing tools such as Terraform and Ansible for database operations. Minimum of 3-4 years of experience with configuration and utilization of GitLab/GitHub, preferably. 3-4 years of experience in provisioning databases on Kubernetes containers.
