About the role: Lead, drive and oversee all water systems for the DRI plant, including direct & indirect cooling systems, water treatment systems, cooling towers & heat exchangers, effluent plant, sewerage network, storm & rain collection network, potable water system, firewater systems, piping design, etc. Ensure adequacy, availability, and reliability as well as optimised and efficient systems across all plant areas Carry out design validation, code compliance and design integration. Support engineering review, procurement activities through vendor offer reviews and recommendations. Interface with the project engineering firm and internal stakeholders to manage end-to-end activities. Knowledge of Utility systems covering compressed air and industrial gases is desirable. Work on optimisation of Engg efforts and Quantities. KPIs Quality of Engg, On time Deliverables and Optimisation of Quantities. Contribute in structural design with modularization, fabrication, and transport requirements. Contribute in constructability, erection sequence, and temporary structure needs. Role & responsibilities: Ensure adherence to agreed schedule of deliverables Anticipate, flag and make mitigation plans in advance in case of schedule deviations Contribute towards effective and timely resolution of technical challenges arising during the course of engineering Review water & utility balance calculations and water & utility consumption estimates. Ensure optimised design Ensure interconnection of utility networks with process and auxiliary units in line with agreed take over points / conditions Validate design of cooling towers, water treatment systems, air compressors, and inert gas systems. Review vendor packages for utility skids, tanks, and pumps. Provide guidance on pipe sizing, routing, and layout. Address site queries, technical deviations, and NCRs during engineering and construction phases. Support startup planning and utility readiness reviews. Preferred candidate profile Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering. 30+ years of experience in water systems, for steel, chemical, or oil & gas plants. Knowledge of Utility systems covering compressed air and industrial gases system desirable Strong knowledge of process water, utility standards and vendor packages. Experience in O&M planning, redundancy strategies, and cost optimization. Preference will be given to retired professionals from the same background. Contract Terms: Contract Duration: 2 years, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and performance.
