We are seeking a highly analytical and experienced Senior Mortgage Analyst to join our Residential Mortgage Operations team. The ideal candidate will bring in-depth knowledge of income calculation, loan eligibility assessments , and government-backed and conventional loan programs , including FHA, VA, USDA, and Bond loans . You will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of mortgage loan reviews in accordance with agency and investor guidelines. Key Responsibilities: Analyze and underwrite residential mortgage loan files, ensuring compliance with agency and investor guidelines (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, USDA, Bond programs). Perform detailed income analysis for various borrower types (W-2, self-employed, commission-based, rental income, etc.), including complex tax return evaluations. Review complete loan packages for creditworthiness, collateral evaluation, and documentation integrity. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all relevant lending guidelines and overlays (e.g., DU/LP findings, FHA Handbook, VA Lenders Handbook). Assist in structuring loans that meet borrower needs while complying with product and regulatory requirements. Act as a subject matter expert and mentor for junior underwriters and analysts. Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders (loan officers, processors, QC teams) to resolve issues and close loans efficiently. Ensure adherence to federal and state lending regulations, including RESPA, TRID, and HMDA. Participate in periodic audits, internal process reviews, and contribute to operational improvement initiatives. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered. 3+ years of experience in residential mortgage underwriting or analysis. Deep understanding of conventional loan programs and government-insured loans (FHA, VA, USDA, Bond). Strong expertise in income analysis and cash flow evaluations from personal and business tax returns (Schedule C, E, K-1, etc.). Familiarity with AUS systems (DU, LP) and Loan Origination Systems (LOS) like Encompass, Calyx Point, or equivalent. Knowledge of compliance regulations and investor guidelines. Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
