Ultrasound technician

• Operate ultrasound equipment to capture diagnostic images
• Prepare patients by explaining procedures and positioning them appropriately
• Evaluate images for quality and clarity before submitting to physicians
• Collaborate with radiologists and physicians to assess imaging needs
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
• Ensure equipment is calibrated and functioning properly
• Follow safety protocols and infection control procedures
• Adhere to HIPAA and privacy regulations
• Stay current with technological and procedural advancements in sonography

Required Skills and QualificationsHard skills

• Proficiency with ultrasound imaging equipment
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and cross-sectional imaging
• Familiarity with PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication Systems) and EHR platforms
• Ability to recognize image abnormalities and ensure diagnostic image quality
• Understanding of sonographic procedures in areas such as OB/GYN, vascular, and cardiac

Educational requirements
