Job Description Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and proactive production chemist to join our team in the paint industry. The ideal candidate will oversee, maintain, and improve process systems and machinery critical to the production process. This role requires expertise in process systems, troubleshooting, and adherence to safety standards. Duties & Responsibilities / Key Responsibilities: Batch Preparation: Supervise or assist in the preparation of paint batches. Ensure accurate weighing and mixing of chemicals. Equipment Handling: Operate and maintain mixers, dispersers, mills, and other production equipment. Ensure equipment is cleaned and calibrated regularly. Quality Control : Conduct tests on in-process batches and finished products. Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., viscosity, gloss, drying time, adhesion). Process Monitoring : Monitor chemical reactions and mixing processes. Ensure correct temperatures, mixing speeds, and batch sizes are maintained. Troubleshooting : Identify and resolve issues in production batches (e.g., separation, colour mismatch). Recommend corrective actions to improve product quality. Safety & Compliance: Follow safety protocols for handling hazardous chemicals. Ensure compliance with environmental and occupational health regulation Record Keeping : Maintain detailed records of batch production sheet and test results. Document deviations and corrective actions. Inventory Management : Monitor stock levels of raw materials and chemicals. Coordinate with store & another department Training : Train production staff on chemical handling and process protocols. Promote best practices in paint manufacturing.
