Responsibilities The Business Development Manager for Environmental Services – TX Region is responsible for identifying, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities that align with the company’s strategic priorities primarily in environmental consulting but also cross-functional opportunities in: geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, sustainable infrastructure, and geophysical services. Reporting to the Business Development Director – Texas Region and the Senior VP Environmental Services – Texas Region, this role drives client acquisition, fosters strategic partnerships, and expands the company’s market presence across public and private sectors starting in Texas but also expanding into adjacent surrounding states. The BD Manager works closely with the BD Director, executive leadership, operational teams, and technical experts to build relationships, shape pursuits, and support long-term growth initiatives. Key Responsibilities Lead strategic business development efforts across key markets, primarily for environmental engineering services but will also include cross-functional BD efforts in geotechnical services, construction support, geophysical services, and infrastructure consulting. Identify and pursue new client relationships and contract opportunities through proactive outreach, networking, and market research. Develop and execute client pursuit plans that align with company capabilities, growth objectives, and market trends. Schedule and execute both one on one and team introduction meetings with target clients. Collaborate with regional and technical leaders to develop account strategies and influence the development of tailored solutions for prospective clients. Represent the company at industry conferences, networking events, and professional organizations to enhance brand visibility and build relationships Lead or support pre-positioning efforts, including opportunity tracking, team-building, and proposal strategy in coordination with marketing and proposal teams Maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities using the company’s CRM system and regularly report on pursuit status and pipeline forecasts Support contract negotiations, teaming agreements, and pricing strategy for key pursuits Gather market intelligence and client feedback to inform strategic planning, service offerings, and competitive positioning Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure a seamless handoff from pursuit to project delivery. Mentor and coach junior business development staff, marketing professionals, or regional contributors as needed. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field; 10+ years of progressive business or client development experience, preferably in the A/E/C, environmental consulting industry; Proven track record of building client relationships and securing contracts with public agencies, private sector clients, or utility/infrastructure owners; Deep understanding of the sales cycle for professional services, including pre-positioning, capture planning, and proposal development; Strong business acumen with the ability to understand technical services and translate them into client-focused solutions; Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills; Experience with CRM platforms and business development reporting tools; and Ability to travel regularly to client sites (up to 50% travel), industry events, and company offices across the region or country.
