This role is based in Gurgaon and follows an on-site working model, requiring 3-5 days a week from the office only Immediate joining candidates please apply Job Type: Full-time 3-5 Days In-Office Location: Gurgaon/Noida Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Data Privacy Consultant to support our organization and clients in navigating global privacy regulations and implementing effective data protection practices. The consultant will play a key role in advising on compliance with privacy laws, conducting risk assessments, drafting policies, and ensuring robust governance around personal data handling. Key Responsibilities: Provide expert advice on data protection and privacy compliance (DPDPA, GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, etc.). Assist in the development and implementation of privacy frameworks, policies, and procedures. Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and Records of Processing Activities (RoPA). Identify and assess data privacy risks, and recommend mitigation strategies. Support in vendor risk assessments and Data Processing Agreements (DPAs). Collaborate with IT, Security, and Legal teams to ensure data protection by design and by default. Deliver training and awareness sessions to internal stakeholders on privacy best practices. Monitor regulatory updates and ensure the organizations compliance posture remains current. Assist in incident response management for data breaches, including root-cause analysis and reporting. Provide consulting support to clients on privacy transformation programs, audits, and certifications. Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (non-law background with strong technical or compliance expertise will be considered). 2-4 years of experience in Data Privacy, Information Security, or Compliance roles. Solid understanding of global privacy regulations (GDPR, DPDPA, CCPA, etc.). Hands-on experience with RoPA, DPIA/PIA, privacy audits, and policy creation. Familiarity with ISO 27701, NIST Privacy Framework, or similar standards. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Preferred Qualifications: Industry certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, DCPP, ISO 27701 LA, or CDPSE. Experience working with data protection tools (OneTrust, TrustArc, BigID, etc.). Background in IT, cybersecurity, or cloud technologies. Experience supporting multi-national organizations with complex data environments. Soft Skills: Strong stakeholder management and consulting skills. Ability to simplify complex regulatory requirements into actionable guidance. As International Privacy Counsel and Data Protection Officer, you will focus on supporting our TD Privacy Office and our global lines of business. Reporting to the General Counsel and Global Privacy Officer, Law & Governance, you will work directly with key members of the global business, and legal teams around the world on a variety of cutting edge projects including: privacy assessments, privacy compliance, auditing frameworks in relation to privacy laws worldwide, including GDPR and the Brazil General Data Protection Law and advise on privacy aspects of customer deals and corporate acquisitions. Responsibilities: Act as legal advisor and first point of contact for the company on privacy or data protection-related matters, with an emphasis on Asia and Africa. Provide support for privacy and data protection matters related to legal and commercial agreements. Draft and maintain data protection-related legal agreements, such as DPAs, TIAs, DPIAs, and company policies. Develop and maintain close relationships with business leaders by cultivating a deep understanding of their business and providing proactive, solution-oriented advice. Display the ability and commitment to work collaboratively and diplomatically with numerous people at all levels in a truly multicultural and global work environment. Interface with data protection authorities, and act as the designated data protection officer for the company in various jurisdictions. Requirements: Fluent in English. Qualified to practice law in any country, and in good standing. 5+ years practicing law, with a strong focus on data protection/privacy law ideally in the tech sector, with a mix of law firm and in-house experience is a plus. IAPP certification and experience with the digital advertising TrustArc privacy platform is a plus. Experience with global privacy laws, including European, European Brazilian and US law. Prior experience supporting cross- border transactions and comfortable managing outside counsel. Confident at engaging and interacting with sophisticated stakeholders, internally and externally. Noted for ability to examine and evaluate complex issues while demonstrating an ability to focus and articulate important points and effective solutions. Recognized for record of successfully managing multiple, concurrent customer transactions and delivering on commitments.
