Transversal Architect

The SAP Transversal Functional Architect is responsible for designing, standardizing, and ensuring the architectural coherence of SAP solutions across multiple functional domains and modules within the enterprise. This role acts as a key liaison between business process owners, functional consultants, technical teams, and project managers, driving the integration, optimization, and alignment of the entire SAP landscape with the company's strategic goals. The Architect provides end-to-end vision and governance for cross-functional processes (e.g., Order-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, Record-to-Report) that span various SAP applications (e.g., S/4HANA, ECC, C/4HANA, BTP, etc.).

Key Responsibilities

• SAP Solution Design and Strategy:

  • Define the global, multi-module, and cross-functional SAP target architecture aligned with enterprise architectural standards and business strategy.

  • Lead the design and standardization of complex end-to-end business processes within the SAP environment, ensuring seamless integration between modules (e.g. SD, MM, PP, EWM, QM).

  • Evaluate and propose appropriate SAP technologies (e.g., S/4HANA capabilities, SAP BTP services, Fiori applications) to meet business requirements and improve process efficiency.

• Architecture Governance and Standardization:

  • Establish and enforce architectural governance rules and best practices for SAP implementations and enhancements across all projects.

  • Review and validate functional designs to ensure they are consistent, integrated, and adhere to the transversal architecture model.

• Integration and Landscape Management:

  • Define the integration strategy and architecture for connecting core SAP systems with external applications (e.g., legacy systems, cloud platforms) and other SAP components

  • Collaborate with the Basis/Technical teams to define the optimal SAP landscape (development, testing, production) and manage the impact of new architectural components.

• Leadership and Mentoring:

  • Provide expert guidance, mentorship, and leadership to functional teams, technical developers, and business analysts on complex, integrated SAP issues.

  • Lead proof-of-concept initiatives for new SAP functionalities or transversal solutions.

• Documentation:

  • Create and maintain essential architectural documentation, including the current state architecture, target state architecture, integration maps, and architectural decision logs.

Required Skills and Experience

• Experience:

  • Expert in SAP implementation and design, with at least 10 years in an SAP Functional Architect or Solution Architect role focused on transversal/cross-module integration.

  • Deep functional expertise in core SAP modules (SD/MM) and a solid understanding of the integration points with others (FICO, EWM, PM, LE,PP)

  • Proven experience in S/4HANA implementation projects is mandatory.

• Key Competencies:

  • Exceptional ability to translate complex business requirements into robust, integrated, and scalable SAP solutions.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively articulate architectural concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Expert knowledge of SAP data models and how master data impacts cross-functional processes.

  • Demonstrated experience in governance and enforcing architectural standards.

  • Fluent in english to be able to work in multicultural environments
