Role & responsibilities

Pre Transplants Duties:

1. Once the donor and recipient are finalized by the respective transplant surgeon, the documentation work as per the Human Organ Transplant Act 1994 is taken over by him/her for all transplants.

2. Pre transplant work up/evaluation for both donor and recipient, as per the clinical pathway.

3. Preparation of the file containing both clinical as well as legal documents for both donor as well as recipient to present in front of the authorization committee for approval for all Transplants.

4. Coordination in approval from the hospital authorization committee or state authorization committee (wherever applicable) to coordinate with Nephrologist/LT Surgeon/Hepatologist, transplant surgeon and OT in-charge for fixing the date of surgery.

Post-Operative:

1. In immediate post op period, organizing meeting between Nephrologist/Transplant Surgeons/ Hepatologist / LTP Surgeon and family members.

2. Arrange for assessment with the clinical psychologist/psychiatrist and pre ops team.

3. Take part in the discharge of the donor and recipient and ensure smooth discharge.

Post Discharge:

1. After discharge, keep in touch with the patients and relatives for their follow up visit as per the clinical pathway

2. Track the patients follow up

Preferred candidate profile

• Preparation of the file containing both clinical as well as legal documents for both donor as well as recipient to present in front of the authorization committee for approval for all Transplants.
• Coordination in approval from the hospital authorization committee or state authorization committee (wherever applicable) to coordinate with Nephrologist/LT Surgeon/Hepatologist, transplant surgeon and OT in-charge for fixing the date of surgery.
• Generating awareness for organ donation, both within the hospital and in the community
• Keeping abreast with the latest developments in organ transplant
• Working in close association with the critical care consultants and MSW for identification of brain dead patients to be able to counsel their families for organ donation
• Organ donation counselling
• Develop and maintain a database of organ donor and recipient
• Liasioning work of transplant with government authorities.
• Maintain cordial relations with all transplant team members
• Committee approval letters for all Transplant
• Legal documentation files all Transplant
• Cadaver waiting list
• Workshop forms for both recipient donor
• Transplant patients tracker
• Monitoring the survival rate.
• Pre transplant work up/evaluation for both donor and recipient, as per the clinical pathway.
• Ensure the necessary payment of deposit on the day of admission.
• To coordinate with the blood bank for the requirement of blood products.
