Role responsibilities SALES GROWTH Provide Technical support and perform proposal engineering to the sales team to ensure Customer confidence in our Solution Work closely with the sales team to identify must win projects and ensure a bid strategy is developed. Work closely with capital sales team to prepare all proposals, costings, selections as required and attend meetings with clients as required to win the proposals. Work Closely with the Sales, A/M team and Procurement to ensure products are aligned with market and customer expectations Manage Bid/Proposal process to achieve bids that are of high quality, meet client requirements, and are efficient to produce. PROJECT DELIVERY Engage with the Project Delivery team early in the bid process to ensure team understand the requirement and can commit to time frames and resources Assist as required in tasks that contribute to project delivery COMMERCIAL AND FINANCIAL Work with the estimator, product vertical and supply chain to ensure costs are well understood and can be applied to bids SYSTEMS AND DOCUMENTATION Assist in preparation of marketing material as required including client testimonials and case studies. Ensure adequate processes and systems are in place within the product groups, specifically focused on the bid/proposal activities and product development pipeline SUPPLY CHAIN Work closely with supply chain to identify and support strategic objectives for product area Work with supply chain to develop smarter, quicker ways of obtaining pricing for bids/proposals that do not require quoting every time PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT Work with the Technical Operations Manager to identify Product Improvements in the Product Area Ensure product improvements are planned to keep us as one of the market leaders Lead the development of new product streams or improvements as required. Ensure Product Improvements deliver cost improvements/value to the customer Investigate applications of new technologies particularly in the digital space to provide value to customers Responsible for the development and management of Product Road Maps Gather and feedback market, supplier and customer information that assists in identifying product improvement opportunities Assist in activities such as product localisation to ensure we are competitive in new markets (industry and geographic) AFTERMARKETS Work closely with the aftermarket team to identify opportunities for post sales revenue growth MANAGEMENT AND REPORTING Work with the Technical Operations Manager to set strategic objectives for the product area and ensure it aligns to the business strategy, vision, and goals. Develop and manage Systems and Processes and coordinate with the Head of Operations - India to ensure they are aligned and consistent across the product groups Work with the Technical Operations Manager to Actively drive a culture of teamwork and customer focus in the Product Area, across the Product Groups and with other key stakeholders Provide ongoing reporting and forecasts on activities in the product area as required by the business. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Performing and verifying designs using first principles calculations, FEA and/or current best practice engineering methods Ensuring designs are compliant with relevant Australian Standards, statutory requirements, client specifications, and Safety in Design philosophy Ensure the technical aspects of projects are run smoothly and efficiently. Work closely with designers and project managers to maintain proper documentation to ensure successful project completion. Provide input related to all technical activities & milestones to the project schedule. Provide Engineering & Design progress updates for project reporting and scheduling. Plan, monitor and control the engineering & design activities and technical deliverables for the projects in accordance with the project Schedule. Manage technical project priorities in consultation with relevant Project Managers. Consult Department manager in case of project clashes & expected delays. Identify & discuss technical challenges with internal stakeholders as well as client as applicable before they cause concerns/project delays. Prepare, submit and resolve TQs/clarifications to the client. Respond/resolve TQs/clarifications from the suppliers. Advise and populate project items into NAV in order to produce project requestions. Prepare fabrication/equipment scope of work for the procurement activities. Leading and mentoring team members towards peak performance Undertaking analysis to identify root cause problems and providing alternate solutions that meet both design and production requirements Ensure risk assessments are conducted on new equipment/machine builds Abide by all legislative obligations & Transmin policies and procedures Contribute to maintaining product rationalisation/ standardisation across the range of Transmin engineered equipment and assist in the development of standard systems of work that maximise efficiency Brief drafting resources and external engineering/design resources to achieve commercial and technical objectives Maintain effective client relationships, advising and interfacing with client representatives on design and risk management decisions Communicate continually with the Head of Operations India, Engineering Manager, other Mechanical Engineers and technical personnel to identify, communicate and manage design/technical risks & assumptions, as well as financial and commercial risks Communicate with and provide technical advice or training to Project Managers, Capital Sales Engineers, Estimators and tradespersons as required Perform various mechanical equipment engineering and design tasks at all job phases, from initial client enquiry/bid through to installation, commissioning and site support Assist Capital Sales in standard product selection and where required, in the development of high level/conceptual designs to support tenders and bids/proposals Support department manager in planning & managing ongoing product improvements / changes through the PCR/PCO process. Consult on a technical basis, with product development teams in the development and innovation of existing and new standard engineered mechanical products, including specific research and development projects Provide engineering/design and product technical support to other business units as required, including; assisting in the preparation of technical documentation (eg manuals, lists and standards) during installation commissioning and handovers Attend site as require to provide and oversee product technical support as required Support the capital sales and customer relationship management functions by providing technical support, guidance and training where required SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES High level of attention to detail Analytical and innovative Ability to multi-task and prioritise work Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) Problem solving EXPERIENCE Min 8-10 years in a mechanical design/engineering role Bulk materials handling equipment design Demonstrated history of designing equipment to support bulk materials handling within a mining or heavy industrial environment (preferably Conveyor, Feeder, Gate; FEA QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) or above TUNRA & Practical Belt Conveying or CEMA Calculations IT/TECHNOLOGY Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook 3D modelling
