Job Title: Equipment Engineer (Modules) Interview location: Hyderabad Organization Details Business Unit: Photovoltaic (PV) Manufacturing Job Location: Gujarat, India Reporting To: Team Member / Shift Supervisor Equipment Maintenance Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Equipment Engineer responsible for maintaining equipment stability, improving tool performance, and driving technical competency in the maintenance team. This role supports RIL’s strategic ambition of becoming the world’s leading solar cell producer . Key Responsibilities Operations & Equipment Maintenance Attend equipment breakdowns and resolve them promptly; escalate per defined matrix if unresolved within specified time. Identify issues causing production loss or high rejection rates and implement corrective actions. Maintain and improve equipment uptime and reliability. Ensure damaged spares are discarded at designated locations and coordinate repair dispatches. People Management Coordinate attendance and leave plans for off-roll maintenance executives. Assign clear roles and responsibilities to team members. Conduct timely shift handovers and meetings to ensure seamless communication. Oversee On-the-Job Training (OJT) for new executives as per defined standards. Actively participate in training programs to uplift team skills in equipment systems. Continuous Improvement Initiate and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Support lean maintenance practices and structured problem-solving. Contribute to the development of a robust maintenance system in the start-up environment. Housekeeping & Safety Enforce and follow all safety protocols in the work area. Maintain 5S standards to ensure a safe, clean, and organized shop floor. Promote a culture of safety and cleanliness throughout the unit. Qualifications & Experience Education Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering from a recognized university. Good academic standing preferred. Experience 2–5 years of experience as an Equipment Engineer, preferably in solar or semiconductor manufacturing . Experience in plant start-ups, lean maintenance systems , and automated manufacturing environments is advantageous. Skills & Competencies Technical Skills Strong troubleshooting skills in equipment controls involving PLCs, PCs, robotics. Knowledge of electropneumatic, vacuum systems , and automated systems is a plus. Computer literacy and project management capabilities. Post a 3D program through software to the machine. 4. Set controls and regulate speed, feed, coolant flow, and angle of cut. 5. Machine Setup: Prepare the VMC machine for operation by installing and aligning workpieces, tooling, and fixtures according to engineering drawings and job specifications. 6. Conduct tool changes, offsets, and adjustments as necessary to ensure quality and accuracy 7. Operation: Operate VMC machines to perform milling, drilling, tapping, and other machining operations to produce parts with precision and accuracy. 8. Monitoring: Monitor machine operations during the production process to ensure adherence to quality standards, making necessary adjustments to tooling and machine settings as required. 9. Inspection: Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometres, callipers, and gauges to verify conformance to specifications. 10. Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on VMC machines, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged components to ensure optimal performance and longevity. 11. Safety: Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following lockout/tagout procedures. 12. Documentation: Record production data, including machine settings, tooling changes, and quality inspection results, accurately and in a timely manner. 13. Problem Solving: Troubleshoot issues that may arise during the machining process, such as tool wear, material deformation, or machine malfunctions, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and maintain productivity. 14. Train and mentor junior machinists as needed. 15. Support company production requirements at all times. 16. Programmer must have experience and knowledge of Delcam Powermill software.
