Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Overall Operations Management

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end operations of the tool room including planning, production, quality, and maintenance.
  • Ensure smooth execution of mould manufacturing as per customer requirements and delivery schedules.
  • Coordinate with design, production, and maintenance teams for seamless workflow.

Production Planning & Control

  • Develop and implement production plans aligned with delivery schedules.
  • Monitor daily tool room operations to ensure optimum utilization of resources (machines, manpower, materials).
  • Review progress against targets and initiate corrective actions for delays.

Tool Design & Development

  • Coordinate with the design team for mould design feasibility and manufacturability.
  • Oversee new tool development, modifications, and preventive maintenance of existing tools.
  • Ensure standardization of tool designs for efficiency.

Quality Assurance

  • Implement quality standards (ISO/IATF standards) specific to tool room operations.
  • Ensure dimensional accuracy, proper fitting, and life cycle of moulds.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective actions for quality defects in tools.

Process Improvement / Lean Implementation

  • Drive continuous improvement (Kaizen, 5S, Lean, TPM) in tool manufacturing processes.
  • Implement cost control measures and productivity enhancement projects.
  • Reduce lead times, wastage, and rework in tool manufacturing.

People Management

  • Lead, train, and develop a technically skilled workforce (toolmakers, CNC/VMC operators, supervisors).
  • Ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance in tool room operations.
  • Manage team performance through KPIs and regular feedback.

Vendor & Resource Management

  • Develop and manage vendor relationships for critical raw materials and outsourced processes (EDM, Heat Treatment, etc.).
  • Ensure availability of required raw materials, standard parts, and consumables for uninterrupted production.

Cost & Budget Responsibility

  • Prepare budgets for tool room operations and adhere to approved costs.
  • Monitor tool costs and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.

Customer Interaction

  • Coordinate with customers on technical discussions related to moulds and project progress.
  • Resolve customer complaints related to tooling and ensure corrective actions.

Technology Upgradation

  • Keep updated with the latest developments in mould manufacturing technologies (e.g., high-speed machining, automation).
  • Propose investments for advanced machinery and equipment to improve competitiveness.

Preferred candidate profile


Tool & Die Maker Engineering / PG CIPET-Mould development candidate with min 15 + years experience of Plastic Injection Tool development having

  • Deep technical knowledge of injection mould design and manufacturing.
  • Strong leadership, planning, and project management skills.
