You will be responsible for creating, modifying, and validating bills of materials and drawings of parts and sub-assemblies in adherence to technical specifications, customer expectations, and supply chain constraints. In addition to this, you will be required to write the verification plan and oversee its execution. Your role will involve active participation in the functional analysis of the study and managing simulation processes. You will also be expected to apply drawing rules, standards, project specifications, industrialization, internal rules, and processes in your work. Furthermore, you will be responsible for proposing and implementing improvements through processes such as PEP & PMP (MCO, product, eMCN, Temapo), as well as conducting competitor analysis. If necessary, you will manage the execution of verification and validation in laboratories and provide the analysis of results and reports to internal customers. As part of your duties, you will need to master several specific know-hows in the electromechanical and electro-technical field. You will also oversee the design of assigned complex products, including drawings and bill of materials, while functionally leading other designers. Identifying and implementing productivity ideas through QVE and CoS, as well as providing support to Localization projects, will be among your responsibilities. Additionally, you will be involved in various continuous improvement tasks such as SPS, VSM, Kaizen, standardization/late differentiation, JDI, 8D, six sigma, Statistical Analytics, Business Intelligence, Internet of things, Robotic Process Automation, Business Process Management, and SE Ecostruxure. You will also be required to provide troubleshooting and product information support to front office (Service and Marketing) and ensure that customer issues are analyzed promptly with clear decisions provided in a timely manner. Building a surveillance plan along with CE and providing technical analysis to enhance product performance will also fall under your purview. As a Lead Engineer for Structures & Interiors, you will be responsible for overseeing the design and development of structural and interior systems for passenger transportation vehicles. Your role will involve ensuring structural integrity, Cabin & Passenger Car interiors, safety, material selection, mechanical component integration, prototyping and testing, regulatory compliance, and performance under static, dynamic, and environmental loads. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including industrial designers, systems engineers, electrical systems, HVAC, and safety specialists to deliver reliable, lightweight, comfortable, durable, aesthetically refined interiors, and ergonomically optimized solutions. Key Responsibilities: Design Leadership: - Lead the design and development of structures, interior layouts, and passenger amenities. - Own design deliverables across the product lifecycle. - Define and validate material selection, jointing methods, and crashworthiness criteria. - Optimize structures for weight, durability, manufacturability, layout, acoustics, crashworthiness, structural constraints, and cost. - Manage interfaces between structure, interior, and onboard systems. Engineering Analysis & Validation: - Coordinate with structural analysis for load case analysis, fatigue, and crash scenarios. - Perform design reviews, DFMEA, and lead issue resolution. - Interface with testing and V&V teams for prototype verification. - Support failure mode and effect analysis, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives. Cross-functional Collaboration: - Work with systems, electrical, and HVAC teams to ensure proper routing and interface integration. - Collaborate with manufacturing and sourcing teams to ensure DFM/A. - Provide technical inputs to procurement and vendors on fabrication, tolerances, and installation. Documentation & Standards: - Prepare and review detailed CAD models, BOMs, and engineering change requests. - Ensure compliance with global railway standards. - Create and maintain technical specifications, design reports, and installation manuals. Soft Skills: - Strong leadership and communication skills. - Ability to manage design teams and guide junior engineers. - Proactive mindset with focus on quality and delivery timelines. - Lead project reviews and coordinate design and verification reviews. - Manage risk assessments and develop mitigation plans. - Oversee technical solutions and identify gaps in application and product domains. Required Skills And Experience: - Proven expertise in designing structural frames for passenger transportation systems. - Ability to assess maintainability, accessibility, and serviceability during design. - Experience in volume allocation and weight assessment. - Competence in designing equipment/subsystem geometries and optimizing installation. - Knowledge of adjustment principles, clearance management, and stack-up analysis. - Proficiency in CAD tools and PLM platforms. - Understanding of welding technology, material properties, adhesive designs, and surface coating techniques. Qualifications: - Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. - Minimum 10+ years of professional experience in mechanical structural & interior design, preferably in transportation sectors.
