Tmt / Echo Technician (Stress Test Technician)

Patient Preparation:

1. Greet patients, explain the echocardiogram procedure and address any concerns or questions.

2. Properly position and prepare patients for the examination, ensuring patient comfort.

Echocardiography Procedure:

1. Operate echocardiography equipment, including 2D and Doppler ultrasound machines.

2. Perform echocardiograms to capture real-time images of the heart, valves and blood flow.

3. Adjust equipment settings to obtain the best possible images and Doppler waveforms.

Image Evaluation:

1. Evaluate the quality and accuracy of echocardiographic images in real-time.

2. Recognize and document any anomalies, artifacts, or pathology in the images.

3. Measure cardiac structures, such as chamber sizes and wall thickness and assess cardiac function.

Documentation and Reporting:

1. Accurately document patient information, including medical history, medications and allergies.

2. Create a comprehensive report of echocardiographic findings, ensuring timely delivery to the healthcare team.

Collaboration:

1. Collaborate with cardiologists, physicians and nurses to discuss echocardiogram results and provide insight into patient conditions.

2. Participate in clinical discussions and contribute to patient care decisions.

Quality Control:

1. Maintain and calibrate echocardiography equipment to ensure optimal performance.

2. Ensure proper cleaning and sterilization of equipment and exam rooms.

3. Adhere to infection control protocols and hospital policies.

Patient Education:

1. Educate patients about the echocardiography procedure, addressing their questions and concerns.

2. Provide instructions for patients undergoing stress echocardiograms or other specialized tests.

Compliance and Regulations:

1. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety regulations and legal requirements.

2. Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

2. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
