TIG Welder

Responsibilities
1. Welding Operations

• Perform TIG welding (GTAW – Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) on metals like stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, and exotic alloys.
• Use non-consumable tungsten electrodes and inert shielding gases (typically argon or helium).
• Weld thin materials with high precision, often in aerospace, automotive, and medical industries.
• Regulate gas flow and pressure using cylinder gauges and valves.

2. Equipment Handling

• Operate and maintain TIG welding machines, grinders, buffing tools, and hoist systems.
• Select and install torch tips, filler rods, and flux based on metal thickness and type.
• Monitor argon purity and maintain backup systems for shielding gas.

3. Preparation and Setup

• Lay out, measure, and align metal workpieces before welding.
• Clean and prepare surfaces to ensure contaminant-free weld zones.
• Preheat and postheat components to prevent cracking and ensure weld strength.

4. Blueprint and Code Interpretation

• Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and engineering drawings.
• Follow welding procedure specifications (WPS) and adhere to industry codes like AWS D1.1, D17.1, API 1104, and NADCAP standards.

5. Testing and Inspection

• Conduct leak detection tests on tanks, pumps, and piping systems.
• Perform visual inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) such as dye penetrant or ultrasonic testing.
• Ensure welds meet dimensional and structural specifications.

6. Safety and Compliance

• Follow strict safety protocols including PPE usage (helmet, gloves, respirators).
• Understand occupational hazards and implement effective safety precautions.
• Maintain clean and organized workspaces to prevent accidents
