Job Title: Advanced Research & Development Engineer Reciprocating Compressor (Refrigerator) Experience Level: 8~13 Years Location: Greater Noida (Leading Global Appliance Research & Development Organization) Department: Component Solution R&D / Advanced Technology Development Reports To: Head of R&D / Engineering Manager Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Advanced R&D Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of reciprocating compressors for refrigerator applications. This role focuses on enhancing compressor performance, reliability, and manufacturability with a specific emphasis on cost reduction and field failure analysis. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in mechanical design, thermodynamic analysis, and root cause investigation, particularly within the context of India-based manufacturing and supply chain environments. Key Responsibilities Design & Development - Lead the mechanical and thermodynamic design of reciprocating compressors for domestic and commercial refrigerators. - Perform detailed calculations for volumetric efficiency, compression ratio, and thermal performance. - Develop 3D CAD models and engineering drawings using tools such as SolidWorks or NX. - Plan & evaluate FEA & CFD simulations to validate structural integrity and fluid dynamics. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with refrigeration systems. Cost Reduction & Manufacturability - Identify opportunities for material substitution, component simplification, and process optimization. - Work closely with India-based suppliers to reduce production costs while maintaining quality. - Conduct DFM/DFA reviews and implement design changes based on manufacturing feedback. - Support localization strategies to reduce dependency on imported components. Reliability & Field Failure Analysis - Lead root cause analysis of compressor failures in lab and field environments. - Develop and implement corrective actions and long-term countermeasures. - Maintain a failure mode database and contribute to reliability growth initiatives. - Collaborate with quality assurance teams to improve product robustness and customer satisfaction. Innovation & Technology Road mapping - Research emerging technologies and materials relevant to reciprocating compressors. - Contribute to patent filings, technical papers, and internal knowledge sharing. - Participate in benchmarking and competitive analysis within the Indian market. Qualifications - Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration, or related field. - 8~13 years of experience in reciprocating compressor design and development. - Strong understanding of compressor mechanics, thermodynamics, and vibration analysis. - Proficiency in CAD, basics of FEA, CFD, and simulation tools. - Experience with India-based manufacturing and supplier collaboration. Preferred Skills - Familiarity with eco-friendly refrigerants and energy-efficient compressor technologies. - Knowledge of global and Indian standards (IEC, ISO, BIS) for compressor performance and safety. - Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills. - Ability to work in cross-functional and multicultural teams.
