Job Description

We are seeking creative and technically skilled Textile and Fashion Designers to work closely with our artisan clusters and design teams. This role involves developing loom-based textile designs, color palettes, and fashion silhouettes that reflect Saffron House’s vision — luxury with soul.

You’ll collaborate directly with weavers, dyers, and design leads to create new collections, reinterpret traditional motifs, and introduce modern techniques that elevate handloom craftsmanship.

Key ResponsibilitiesTextile Designer

  • Develop loom-ready textile designs (jacquard, dobby, and handloom layouts) using CAD or Illustrator.
  • Create weave structures, color palettes, and pattern repeats for different clusters (Kanchipuram, Banaras, Paithani, etc.).
  • Collaborate with artisans to translate digital concepts into woven samples.
  • Research regional weaving techniques and identify innovation opportunities in motifs, yarns, and textures.
  • Maintain design documentation for each cluster including fabric specs, motif references, and production notes.
  • Work closely with the Creative Director and Chief Fashion Designer to align fabric development with upcoming collections.

Fashion Designer

  • Design sarees, Indo-Western, and fusion silhouettes using handwoven textiles.
  • Develop seasonal mood boards, collection themes, and styling directions.
  • Collaborate with weavers and pattern masters to ensure design feasibility and production efficiency.
  • Create tech packs with fabric details, embellishment notes, and garment construction guidelines.
  • Conduct fittings, oversee sampling, and ensure aesthetic and quality consistency.
  • Stay updated on global fashion trends, color forecasts, and sustainability practices to inspire innovation.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s in Textile Design, Fashion Design, or Weaving Technology (NID, NIFT, or equivalent).
  • 5–10 years of experience in textile or fashion design — preferably within handloom, sustainable, or luxury segments.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or textile CAD software (NedGraphics, ArahWeave, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of Indian weaving techniques, yarn types, and surface design.
  • Excellent eye for color, texture, and composition.
  • Ability to work hands-on with artisans, dyers, and loom technicians.
  • Passion for sustainability, craft revival, and meaningful design.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to work with authentic weaving clusters and contribute to craft empowerment.
  • Exposure to luxury fashion design processes and modern retail operations.
  • Creative freedom to develop collections that tell stories through textiles.
  • A collaborative, purpose-driven environment where tradition meets innovation.
  • Competitive compensation based on experience and contribution.
