Test Engineer, Network Qualification

You should hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, a related field, or have equivalent practical experience. Additionally, you must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in network equipment and network protocols testing and debugging. Proficiency in test automation, test methodologies, writing test plans, and creating test cases using Golang, Python, C++ is required. It is preferred that you have experience in network test automation, networking protocols, and network troubleshooting. Experience in building and scaling test automation is also desired, along with familiarity with L2/L3 protocols on Unix or Linux operating systems. Understanding of CI/CD and best practices, with the ability to derive effective test plans from requirements, is beneficial. As a Networking Test Engineer at Google, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance of our extensive and continually expanding network. Your responsibilities will involve developing and executing comprehensive test plans and cases for Google Global WAN Network, infrastructure, and services. You will design, construct, and maintain lab testbeds, test infrastructure, and existing test automation environments. Identifying, documenting, and tracking network defects and performance issues will be a key part of your role, requiring collaboration with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve network problems. In this position, you will also be responsible for triaging automated regression failures, providing failure analysis, and managing software releases to production. Utilizing testing tools such as Ixia, Spirent Test Center, TRex, and Wireshark to evaluate network system performance and reliability will be part of your daily tasks. You will analyze test results, create detailed reports on network performance and reliability, and contribute to the design and implementation of automated testing solutions.
