Role Overview: As a Principal Telecom Engineer, you will be responsible for interpreting internal or external business issues and recommending best practices. You will be tasked with solving complex Telecommunications (Eng)-related problems and working independently with minimal guidance. Additionally, you may lead functional teams or projects and are regarded as a specialist in Telecommunications (Eng). Your role requires in-depth expertise in Telecommunications (Eng) along with broad knowledge of the discipline within the Engineering function. Key Responsibilities: - Perform conceptual, FEED, and detailed analyses and designs related to Telecom systems according to design basis, project specifications, design codes, and standards - Apply in-depth skills and broad knowledge to address complex problems and non-standard situations - Prepare detailed design calculations, analyses, reports, and procedures ensuring clarity and accuracy - Manage your time effectively to meet objectives, forecast resource requirements, and communicate difficult concepts persuasively - Lead small or medium Telecom Engineering teams, direct the Discipline engineering design of assigned work areas, and ensure completion within planned schedules and budgets - Coordinate with other disciplines to develop clash-free designs and obtain necessary inputs for Discipline designs and drawings Qualification Required: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering (Master's Degree preferred) - 15-20 years of experience in oil and gas industry with major contractors or consultants focusing on detail design - Detailed knowledge of design techniques, analysis methods, standards, codes, and guidelines - Preferably a Registered Professional Engineer or member of a professional engineering society - Knowledge of Functional Safety standards such as IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 About the Company: The company's ingenuity fuels daily life and has forged trusted partnerships across the energy value chain. Key responsibilities include performing conceptual, FEED, and detailed analyses and designs based on project specifications, codes, and standards related to Telecom systems. The Principal Telecom Engineer must apply their advanced skills and knowledge to address complex problems effectively and prepare detailed design calculations, reports, and procedures with accuracy. In addition, when serving as the Lead Engineer, they are responsible for directing Telecom Engineering teams, managing discipline engineering design, and ensuring compliance with project schedules and budgets. Furthermore, the Principal Telecom Engineer is expected to collaborate with various departments and disciplines to develop clash-free designs, review and approve design documents, participate in project meetings and site surveys, and provide technical direction to Designers. They will also assist in procurement activities, monitor project progress, provide construction support, and participate in equipment testing and studies related to Telecom systems. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Principal Telecom Engineer may mentor less experienced engineers, participate in standards development committees, and contribute to employee training and performance evaluations. They are also involved in preparing bids, project budgets, and execution plans, while maintaining communication with project stakeholders and coordinating with vendors for project-related items. Overall, the Principal Telecom Engineer's role is vital in ensuring the engineering integrity and successful execution of Telecom projects, contributing to the advancement of the organization's goals in the energy sector. The Principal Telecom Engineer reports to the Lead Engineer, Project Engineering Manager, or Project Manager within the project context, and to the Supervising Engineer or Engineering Manager functionally. They collaborate with various stakeholders across different departments and disciplines, including Engineering, Fabrication, Safety, Procurement, and Customers. The Principal Telecom Engineer supervises Senior Telecom Engineers and Telecom Engineers, guiding and coordinating their activities to achieve project objectives effectively. To qualify for this role, candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering (a Master's degree is preferred) and possess 15-20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry with major contractors or consultants. Essential qualifications also include detailed knowledge of design techniques, analysis methods, standards, codes, and guidelines, as well as project coordination and execution skills. Preference is given to candidates who are Registered Professional Engineers or members of professional engineering societies and have knowledge of Functional Safety standards.
