Technician

As a Technician in the Dialysis department, you will be responsible for performing various patient care activities under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Your role will involve setting up and operating hemodialysis machines to provide dialysis treatment for patients with kidney issues. Here are some key responsibilities you will have: - Attach dialyzer and tubing to the machine for assembly before use. - Mix dialysate according to the prescribed formula and prime the dialyzer with saline or heparinised solution. - Transport patients to the dialysis room, position them on a lounge chair at the hemodialysis machine, and record vital signs before treatment. - Explain the dialysis procedure and machine operation to patients to alleviate anxieties. - Clean the area of access using antiseptic solution and connect the hemodialysis machine to the patient's forearm or catheter site to start the blood circulating through the dialyzer. - Monitor equipment settings, pressures, and temperatures to ensure compliance with safety standards. - Start blood flow pump at the prescribed rate and inspect venous and arterial pressures to ensure they are within limits. - Calculate fluid removal or replacement required during the dialysis procedure and monitor patients for adverse reactions and machine malfunctions. - Maintain appropriate departmental documentation and treat all communications confidentially. - Participate in quality assurance/quality control activities and Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives. To qualify for this role, you should have a Diploma in Dialysis and at least 2 years of relevant experience in C.S.S.D.
