As an Engineer - Performance at Hero Motocorp, your primary responsibility will be to support vehicle preparation for testing by assisting in assembly and dismantling tasks. You will play a crucial role in completing tests accurately, ensuring precise data collection, and processing raw data for analysis and reporting. Additionally, you will be responsible for handling and maintaining test instruments and equipment, as well as providing support to the team for 5S and other organizational initiatives. Collaboration with colleagues to achieve team goals and objectives will also be a key part of your role. A typical day in this position will involve conducting performance testing of both Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and Electric Vehicles (EVs) for performance, drivability, and benchmarking purposes. It will be essential to ensure that all tests are conducted according to standards and comply with legal and regulatory requirements. You will also be required to identify and troubleshoot vehicle-related problems affecting performance and durability during durability tests. To excel in this role, you should hold a B.E./B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automobile Engineering, along with relevant experience. You should possess technical skills in performance testing, data acquisition using data loggers, subjective evaluation of vehicles for driveability, performance benchmarking of competitors, and other related tasks. Additionally, having a good understanding of DAQ systems and sensors is crucial for this position. In terms of behavioral skills, you should be safety-conscious, as the role may involve physically demanding tasks such as riding vehicles for extended periods, with potential exposure to accidents and injuries during testing. Technical awareness, good riding skills with a safety mindset, and a solid understanding of lab tools and their uses are also important. It is essential to have the ability to grasp new testing tools and instrumentation and display a continuous learning mindset to stay updated with evolving testing methodologies and instruments. Desired competencies for this role include having experience in the automobile industry, subjective vehicle evaluation skills, a willingness to work in the field and on vehicles independently, and hands-on experience in two-wheeler testing.
