Technical Business Data Analyst

1. API Analysis and Data Mapping

• Analyse and document all externally exposed APIs across the platform, including endpoints, data models, and payload structures.
• Conduct detailed mapping between API payloads and internal client and entity data models.
• Identify data gaps, transformation logic, and interdependencies, and produce clear, structured requirements to support engineering remediation.

2. Data Sourcing and Integration

• Define and document requirements for transitioning from CSV-based flat files to automated, scalable data products, including ownership, refresh frequency, lineage, and data quality controls.
• Provide ongoing clarification and support to engineering teams during data product development.

3. Non-Functional and Control Requirements

• Define non-functional requirements covering data availability windows, performance expectations, reconciliation processes, and the management of data exceptions.
• Document operational procedures for exception handling, reconciliations, and data quality issue resolution.

4. Business Process Analysis

• Analyse, review, and document business processes and workflows across Fraud and Financial Crime operations.
• Capture system configuration requirements, including alerting rules, detection thresholds, workflow stages, and user access permissions.
• Contribute to the design of operational processes and user experience, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

5. Delivery and Stakeholder Support

• Work closely with engineers, product owners, compliance teams, and external vendors to ensure solutions are delivered in line with agreed requirements, timelines, and expectations.
• Support testing, validation, and acceptance activities, including test case definition and data verification.

Skills & Experience:

• Demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst or Data Analyst delivering data-driven technology implementations, preferably within Financial Crime, Transaction Monitoring, Client Screening, KYC, or AML environments.
• Hands-on experience querying relational databases using SQL, with proficiency in tools such as SQL Server Management Studio.
• Ability to analyse and validate APIs using tools such as Bruno or Postman, including request construction, payload analysis, and response verification.
• Working knowledge of Azure data and platform services, including data products, data pipelines, storage accounts, Api Management, and DevOps delivery practices.
• Strong understanding of data modelling, API design, and data integration concepts, including REST APIs, JSON, and end-to-end data pipelines.
• Proven ability to translate complex technical data flows and system behaviours into clear, structured, and actionable business requirements.
• Familiarity with non-functional and control requirements, including data timeliness, completeness, reconciliation, lineage, and auditability.
• Experience documenting business processes and contributing to system configuration or user interface and workflow design.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across business, technology, and vendor teams.

Desirable Experience:

• Exposure to financial crime and screening platforms such as Dow Jones Risk & Compliance, Actimize, or equivalent solutions.
• Knowledge of client and entity data models within banking or broader financial services environments
