Role & responsibilities Lead the design and development team of Sheet Metal, Casting and Plastic components, including 3D modeling, drawing creation, and BOM generation, aligned with budget, timeline, and project resource constraints. Responsible for 3D modelling, drawing creation, and BOM generation for mechanical components used in EV platforms, including enclosures, brackets, mounts, and thermal management parts. Drive engineering change management through established processes (ECR & ECN) and ensure timely design release. Apply advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes for Sheet Metal and Plastic parts, including DFM/DFA principles. Interpret and apply GD&T, perform tolerance stack-up analysis, and contribute to DFMEA to ensure design robustness and reliability. Independently execute tasks with minimal supervision while proactively identifying design risks and proposing solutions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, thermal, and systems engineers to ensure mechanical-electrical integration. Utilize PLM tools (Teamcenter preferred) for data management, version control, and release workflows. Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis of issues during development, validation, or field operation. Keep up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in mechanical design for EVs, including lightweight materials, thermal systems, and modular design. Exposure to IP sealing, thermal interface design, EMC shielding, and high-voltage packaging will be an added advantage. Skills & Qualifications: Bachelors or master’s degree in mechanical engineering (or equivalent). 5 to 12 years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer, preferably in product or component development. Strong experience with Creo for 3D CAD modelling and Teamcenter or similar PLM tools. Proven ability to generate and interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications. Sound knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA, and design validation methodologies. Familiarity with EV-specific requirements such as high-voltage component packaging, structural design for vibration/shock, and thermal management systems. Excellent problem-solving skills with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
