As a FSO- SALT WAM Senior at EY, you will have the opportunity to develop, mentor, and supervise Analysts and Advanced Analysts. Your key responsibilities will include: - Acting as a counsellor for Analysts and Advanced Analysts - Proactively recognizing issues and recommending solutions - Seeking opportunities to diversify client load and exposure to different teams - Fostering collaboration and constructive communication within the team - Demonstrating basic presentation and public speaking skills - Communicating effectively in face-to-face situations, by phone, and via email - Taking ownership of your schedule and proactively seeking work to meet your annual chargeability goal - Adhering to practice protocol and internal processes consistently - Exploring the opportunity of going on rotation In addition to the specific competencies required for your role, you will focus on developing the following in relation to firm-wide competencies: - Having great knowledge on state tax compliance, preparing and reviewing state tax returns and other relevant disclosure statements and jurisdictions - Understanding recent tax reforms and their impact on various state jurisdictions - Identifying opportunities for process improvement - Ensuring the use of methodologies, tools, and technology specific to tax, with in-depth knowledge of using Go-systems - Understanding State Withholding and Composite returns - Demonstrating strong knowledge of state nexus concepts, apportionment methods, unitary, combined, and consolidated filings - Identifying issues on an engagement, trying to resolve them, and bringing them to the attention of Assistant Managers or Managers - Encouraging critical questions and open sharing of ideas and concerns - Providing balanced and constructive feedback with specific behavioral examples to team members - Developing strengths and opportunities collaboratively with team members - Contributing to a positive team environment by demonstrating commitment and optimism towards work challenges - Maintaining focus of team members on work products and holding others accountable for timely completion of high-quality work - Showing a sense of urgency in responding to clients and team needs - Focusing team members on key quality drivers for work assignments - Building positive relationships with internal professionals and client personnel by demonstrating integrity and genuineness Additional Skills Requirements: - Graduate/Postgraduate in a finance, numerical, or statistical background - EA certification will be an added advantage - 3-4 years of relevant state and local taxes experience At EY, you will be part of a diverse global team that exists to build a better working world, helping to create long-term value for clients, people, and society, and build trust in the capital markets.
