- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in electrical engineering or electrical & electronics engineering or electronics & communication or Mechanical engineering with minimum of 10-13 years of related experience; or master's degree with minimum 8 to 11 years of relative experience; or PhD with 5 to 8 years of relative experience.

As a Systems Engineer at Lam, you'll design complex frameworks, systems, or products for our wafer fabrication equipment. You will define system specifications, requirements, parameters, and compatibility to integrate hardware, software, and firmware into a cohesive system. Identifying, analyzing, and resolving system design weaknesses combined with your multi-layered technical expertise you help shape the next generation of Lam initiatives.There is an opening for the role of Systems Engineer 4 within the Customer Support Business Group (CSBG) of LIGHT organization. This position will be based out of Bangalore and will closely be working with the Engineering & Cross functional teams across global regions of Lam Research like US & India. CSBG mainly focuses on delivering value to customers throughout the product lifecycle by providing Spares, Upgrades and services to maximize the value of customer capital assets.This high energy individual will focus on development and support for Productivity and Technology Upgrades to our global customers through engineering projects (EPLs/PPLs), for Dextro, Deposition and Etch product lines. Meet Corporate metrics and goals set to achieve excellence and deliver fast solutions to our global Customer. Also, collaborate with various global products and field support teams to address issues.
What You'll Do
A successful candidate will be comfortable in a matrixed organization influencing decisions based on inputs from stakeholders from varying backgrounds. The ability to read electrical, fluid, and process gas schematics is required. The role involves leading complex engineering projects that integrate electrical, mechanical, RF, vacuum, temperature, and software design. We are looking for a Jack of all trades, master of one. A true, T shaped Leader.
Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for performing professional electrical/mechanical engineering research, design, development, modification, tool upgrade and testing in support of electrical systems and / or power distribution and generations, down to the discrete circuit and PCBA level.
- Continuously improves existing Equipment Intelligence features and drives the development and system integration of the solutions
- Coordinates with cross functional teams including mechanical, electrical, controls, software, robotics, vision system and product support
- Conducts system architecture analysis and develops system models
- Analyzes data using Statistical Analysis of Variation and SPC methods
- Presents test plans, test data, technical proposals, tradeoffs, etc.
- Interprets theory of operations for the system and subsystems, creates theory of operation documentation if needed
- Learning about strategic product issues from Level 29 & above and ensures team members compliance with PDR/DDR process and driving continuous improvement of systems, products, and processes.
- Lead the development and refinement of functional specifications for electrical systems, power distribution and controls
- Learn Products, PDR processes & DFMEA principles and Owns PDR tasks/Simple sub-system/medium complex CIP/Medium complex designs using appropriate project management tools.
- Outstanding analysis and proven trouble-shooting skills and ability to drive functional requirements & execute in a dynamic team environment
- Mentors, coordinates & approves work executed from level 27 & below and coordinates with all stakeholders for work priorities/escalations
Mandatory Skills And Experience Required To Perform The Job
- Troubleshooting advanced engineering problems, reviewing test results, influencing design changes, and supporting system integration
- Working with vendors to develop competitive products with business needs in mind and providing remote and onsite support to field personnel
- Excellent leadership, people, proactive communication and presentation skills to work effectively and efficiently with diverse teams, internal and external partners
- Proficiency in understanding system specifications and theory of operation for the entire process/transport module.
- Proficient in system level understanding of Electro-Mechanical Sub-systems, Power Distribution/Control systems and/or Industrial Automation.
- Proficiency in problem solving tools: 8D, PS&DM and leading System FMEA, System reliability concepts, design for safety
- High proficiency in statistical analysis methods: Regression, Montecarlo, Factor analysis and execution/delivery on tight time schedules
- Preferred knowledge of JMP and or other data analysis software, Python and other languages
Desirable Skill
- Familiar with various etch, dep & clean process technology and experience with capital equipment Industry (for e.g., process industries, aircraft, robotics etc.)
- Hands-on experience in testing in laboratory environment, verification, debugging and qualifications of mechanical and electrical systems
- Proficiency and hands on experience to take complex subsystem design from concepts to HVM production.
- Knowledge about Robotics & Computer Vision preferred
- Proficiency in SEMI, ASME, ANSI, ISO, IPC standards or equivalent and
- Proficiency in program management and knowledge in MATLAB coding
- Good communication skills and experience of working in cross-functional teams in a matrix organization
