The successful candidate will perform mainframe zOS operating System upgrades (V2.5 and V3.1) using SMPE and zOS workflows, ISV product upgrades/maintenance apply for zOS compatibility to support our customers’ mainframe environments and ensure contractual obligations are met. The individual will need to work with vendor personnel to achieve timely upgrades of zOS, ISV products before end of support. Job Responsibilities Perform standard system programming activities like configuration, installation & maintenance using SMP/E, and vendor software installations in the mainframe environment. Support other team: storage management, performance tuning, capacity planning, security, networking, and operating procedures from zOS perspective. Work with Mainframe System Programmers staff across tracks to enhance the mainframe environment. Participate in software(ISVs and zOS) deployments and various support functions as defined by the department manager. Possess interpersonal skills needed to foster good relations with business and development users. Assist team members to solve problems, make innovative improvements and make decisions. Identify and implement system and process improvements in the z/OS environment Work with application support teams and other internal customers to facilitate business initiatives. Review and Approve documentation of system software products including usage instructions, configuration notes, test plans, details of customizations necessary for our environment, as well as process and procedure guide Experience level 8+ years of professional work experience as a Mainframe System Programmer in zOS & ISVs. Bachelor’s degree required and/or equivalent work experience. Mainframe Certifications / Badges is an added advantage Technical key skills (Mandatory skills) Expertise in performing SMP/E and Non-SMPE Installation of ISV products) Operating system z/OS upgrades workflow execution. JES3/JES2 initialization Sysplex and config management (good to have) Fluent in JCL and IBM Utilities (IEBGENER/IEBCOPY/AMASPZAP/DFDSS) ISPF/TSO and other basic Basic knowledge of REXX/CLIST Designing project plan(upgrades, maintenance, decom) with task list for all stakeholders and communicating the timelines with delivery and customer. Mainframe Storage Systems Programmer Position Summary Provide premium Mainframe Storage system programming support and services to Ensono mainframe clients. The successful candidate will work on storage infrastructure administration, configuration, and installation. This encompasses DASD, tape, virtual tape, encryption, and replication for backup and DR capabilities. The associate will perform software and hardware refreshes, customer migrations and daily customer support. Key Areas of Focus for this Role Fulfill customer service requests for mainframe customers in a timely manner as they pertain to Mainframe Storage administration and related products Provide DASD and tape storage administration support for our customers. Manage storage pools for multiple customers and LPARs. Perform problem diagnostics and resolution. Create and oversee jobs for daily, weekly, and monthly backups. Participate in Data Center migration projects using multiple methodologies. Perform data and volume recovery. Perform data migrations between storage frames for existing customers. Interact with hardware and software vendors as required. Follow procedures for customizing Mainframe Storage related ISV products efficiently and according to best practices and Ensono standards (for productivity/scalability purposes). Provide primary support for reported problems related to Mainframe Storage and related software products Provide support on 24 x 7 x 365 basis across multiple time zones. Provide key support for customer migration services (new customer transitions) as they pertain to Mainframe Storage and related OEM software products. Provide primary support for reported problems related to Mainframe Storage DASD and Tape Systems Communicate to both customer and management the status of issues at intervals during resolution process. Maintain documentation of issue cause, action, and resolution in the designated problem tracking system. Assist the assigned project manager in the migration of newly acquired customers such that all technical hurdles are addressed in a timely manner and do not impede the expected progress of the transition nor the targeted migration date. In joint co-operation with the Disaster Recovery Services and other technical teams, successfully execute tasks associated with any given customer’s disaster recovery plans. Aid and assist other mainframe teams as required to support them and our clients. Adhere to a schedule that efficiently manages resources and allows timely implementations. Experience in preparing and implementing Disaster Recovery plans Expert knowledge of catalog structures, LPAR sysplexes, and resource sharing. Extensive knowledge of DASD hardware configurations incorporating replication. Extensive skills with IBM and Oracle/STK tape hardware and software. Ability to analyze performance on DASD and tape subsystems. Extensive skills with CA-1, MIMTape. Functional skills with Dell/EMC. Functional skills with RMM, TLMS, GRS, Tapecopy, and SMF. Experience in customization of Mainframe Storage related ISV software products Experience using various system monitoring software in problem determination, particularly for performance/response problems related to Mainframe Storage Ability to develop innovation, strategies, processes, and best practices in software management Support planned (disaster recovery) and unplanned (emergency) database recovery activities Knowledgeable in best practices of software management, maintenance, and documentation Experience with establishing policies and procedures pertaining to database management, DR, security, maintenance, and utilization Ability to evaluate change requests and determine impact to assigned clients and troubleshooting and solving production database issues. Other Qualifications Self-motivated and able to work independently. Strong analytical skills required for quick problem determination and isolation of root cause with emphasis on required recovery actions to minimize impact to client business. Demonstrated ability to respond quickly and effectively to support requests from multiple clients Must be able to multi-task and work under short deadlines and in high pressure situations.
