What You'll Do Work on cost-out projects for Low Voltage Switchgear products: Contactor/ Switch Disconnector/ Motor Protection Circuit Breaker/ Push buttons Work with global stakeholders for project execution through idea generation, design, testing and implementation phase Ensure product compliance to global design standards like IEC,UL,CSA, NEMA or any other compliance standard. Complete system / component sizing, designing , simulation and testing activities to meet Low Voltage Switchgear requirements Modify existing products to support customer, manufacturing, applicable regulatory and industry standard, and market requirement through Change Management process - Should have worked on Cost-out/ VAVE projects for Contactors, Switch Disconnector, Breakers etc or similar products Experience in current path design, mechanism design and arc quenching principles Knowledge of plastic material, their use based on properties and requirement. Should be conversant with GD&T principles and clearance & creepage calculations Experience of different manufacturing processes pertaining to contacts and plastic material (Bending, riveting , welding , brazing , injection molding) Knowledge of low voltage switchgear standards in accordance to IEC/UL/CSA/CCC codes which will allow development of test plans. Experience in execution of tests for EN60947 / UL60947 ( Temperature rise , Short circuit , Make/Break, sequence tests etc.) Assess test results, perform root cause analysis through test findings/failures and take corrective/preventive actions Responsible for design engineering analysis on current path, mechanism, spring, bimetals, housing, actuator circuit , arc chamber, coils etc. Review reliability predictions, conversant with Design Failure Modes and Effects analysis (DFMEA) and read structural/thermal/CFD/MBD results Complete design (2D drawings / 3D Models) in UG-NX or Solid works. Knowledge on PLM systems ( Enovia , SAP) will be desirable Should have an innovation mindset Qualifications BE / M.tech - Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering 6-9 yrs. As a Product Design Engineer specializing in Low Voltage Switchgear products, you will be responsible for working on cost-out projects involving Contactors, Switch Disconnectors, Motor Protection Circuit Breakers, and Push Buttons. Your role will involve collaborating with global stakeholders to execute projects from idea generation to design, testing, and implementation phases. It will be essential to ensure that the products comply with global design standards such as IEC, UL, CSA, NEMA, or any other relevant standards. You will be expected to handle system and component sizing, design, simulation, and testing activities to meet the requirements of Low Voltage Switchgear. Additionally, modifying existing products to align with customer needs, manufacturing processes, regulatory standards, and market demands will be part of your responsibilities through the Change Management process. To excel in this role, you should have prior experience in Cost-out/VAVE projects related to Contactors, Switch Disconnectors, Breakers, or similar products. Proficiency in current path design, mechanism design, and arc quenching principles will be necessary. Knowledge of plastic materials, their properties, and usage, along with familiarity with GD&T principles and clearance & creepage calculations, will be advantageous. Your expertise should extend to different manufacturing processes relevant to contacts and plastic materials, including bending, riveting, welding, brazing, and injection molding.
