Job Description: Piping Stress Engineer Location: Mumbai and Vadodara Experience: 5 to 10 years Role Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Piping Stress Engineer to join our team and contribute to the successful execution of projects in hydrocarbon, chemical, and process plants. The candidate will be responsible for stress analysis, support design, and ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards while independently managing small to medium projects. Key Responsibilities: Develop stress design basis , including load cases, critical line lists, and calculations for wind and seismic conditions. Conduct piping stress analysis for critical lines associated with static and rotary equipment. Design piping supports and prepare procurement-related documents, including material requisitions (MRs) and bid evaluations. Prepare cost and manhour estimates and support business development activities. Apply knowledge of plant design codes, such as ASME B31.1, B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, and ASME Sec VIII , as well as equipment design codes. Perform analysis for specialized piping systems, including jacketed piping, buried piping, pipelines, and non-metallic piping. Execute advanced dynamic analyses, such as vibration, slug, or two-phase flow analysis. Lead small to medium-sized projects independently, coordinating with internal teams and clients. Manage and guide the stress engineering team while effectively communicating with clients. Key Skills Required: Proficiency in Piping and Pipeline Stress Analysis using tools like CAESAR II and Navisworks for 3D model reviews. In-depth understanding of ASME/API codes and standards for piping and equipment design. Expertise in pipe rack design, support standards, and development of special supports. Skilled in SIF calculation for non-standard fittings and stress analysis of high-temperature and high-pressure piping systems. Strong knowledge of expansion bellows, spring supports, and their applications. Hands-on experience in vibration-related analysis, pulsation analysis, and surge analysis (preferred). Competence in reviewing and validating stress analysis calculations, reports, and documentation. Experience with stress analysis of specialized systems, including dynamic and seismic considerations. Additional Competencies: Familiarity with high-end dynamic analysis techniques and industry-standard guidelines for critical piping systems. Strong leadership skills to guide project teams and maintain client satisfaction. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Job Requirements Process Engineer in Oil & Gas domain with upstream or refinery experience. Involved in process calculations for cross country pipelines, Root cause analysis, Simulation studies, multiphase flow, and well head operations during normal, emergency, start-up & shutdown. Prepare and review PFD, P&ID , Heat and Mass Balance calculations, multiphase and surge calculations, hydraulic and pressure drop calculations, pipeline sizing and selection calculations. Perform hydraulic analysis on variable cost opportunities, OOS equipment, and pipeline derate impact to capacity Assist the scheduling team to set the optimized variable cost plan for each asset. Atmos/PLM Leak Detection Optimization Leak detection KPI studies Leak detection integrity evaluation studies Leak detection threshold optimization Work Experience Chemical engineering or equivalent degree is required. 5 -12 years experience with upstream / refining domain and cross country pipelines background is required. Good understanding of process unit operations and process calculations, including, fluid flow principles, and reaction principles, is a plus. Working experience with HYSYS , UNISIM is an advantage Must have good technical communication skills. This includes ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with unit engineers to understand their issues and problems and communicate solutions.
