Job Description: Storage Engineer We are seeking a skilled and experienced Storage Engineer to manage, maintain, and optimize our enterprise storage systems and infrastructure. The Storage Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, and security of all storage solutions across the organization. This role will require expertise in storage management technologies, disaster recovery, backup solutions, and a strong understanding of both physical and cloud storage environments. Key Responsibilities : Storage Management & Optimization: Design, implement, and manage storage solutions, including SAN, NAS, DAS, and cloud storage. Optimize storage performance through regular monitoring, tuning, and capacity planning. Manage storage provisioning, allocation, and decommissioning. Ensure efficient utilization of storage resources, balancing performance and cost. Backup & Disaster Recovery: Implement and maintain backup and recovery solutions to ensure data protection and business continuity. Create and test disaster recovery plans to ensure quick data recovery in case of failures. Regularly review and update backup schedules, policies, and procedures. Monitor and troubleshoot backup failures to ensure consistent data protection. Data Replication & Archiving: Manage and configure data replication processes to ensure data availability and fault tolerance. Oversee data archiving processes to ensure compliance with retention policies. Performance Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Utilize storage monitoring tools to track storage health, performance, and capacity. Troubleshoot and resolve storage-related issues quickly and effectively. Work with vendors to resolve hardware or software failures related to storage systems. Storage Security: Implement and maintain security measures such as encryption, access control, and authentication for storage systems. Ensure compliance with organizational security standards and data privacy regulations. Automation & Scripting: Write scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Python) to automate storage-related tasks and improve efficiency. Automate routine maintenance tasks, such as storage capacity monitoring, provisioning, and reporting. Vendor Management & Integration: Collaborate with external storage vendors to evaluate, deploy, and support storage hardware and software solutions. Perform firmware upgrades, patches, and software updates as needed. Ensure integration of storage solutions with other infrastructure systems (e.g., servers, networks). Collaboration & Documentation: Work closely with system administrators, network engineers, and application teams to ensure storage solutions meet the needs of the business. Maintain accurate documentation of storage configurations, processes, and procedures. Provide regular reports on storage performance, capacity usage, and backup status. Capacity Planning & Forecasting: Monitor storage growth and provide capacity forecasting to ensure future needs are met. Plan and execute storage expansions, migrations, or upgrades as required. Compliance & Regulatory Requirements: Ensure storage systems adhere to relevant data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
