Position Summary... We are looking for Staff Engineer who can drive design, architecture & delivery of our next generation platforms keeping scalability, robustness and security aspects in focus. The platforms you build will be used for marketing, AD delivery & customer engagement across multiple countries with each of them being a multi billion dollar business for Walmart. You will be challenged with unparalleled complex business problems that spans across multiple countries and large number of users & data.
What you'll do... About Team:
International Technology: Focusing on customer, associate and business needs, this team works with Walmart International, which includes more than 5,900 retail units, operating outside the United States with 55 banners in 26 countries such as Africa, Argentina, Canada, Central America, Chile, China, India, Japan, Mexico and United Kingdom to name a few. Our focus is to build a continuous, seamless, omni-channel customer experience across physical stores, eCommerce, and mobile commerce, that is unique to Walmart and sets us apart from our competition. We are building grounds up platforms & products using cutting edge technology and also modernizing existing platforms & products.
This role is for Identity Engineering team within Walmart International group. The group focuses on customer profile, identity and membership related features development & support for the International business.
What you'll do:
- Design, develop, and deploy highly available and scalable systems with a focus on AI and cloud-native solutions.
- Develop and optimize applications using React, Java Script, and Java, ensuring high performance and reliability.
- Implement and integrate AI-driven solutions, including LLM-based applications, Gen AI, and Agentic AI frameworks.
- Build and maintain RESTful web services, Kafka queues, and Cosmos DB for real-time data processing.
- Leverage big data technologies such as Kafka to process and analyze large-scale datasets efficiently.
- Architect and implement microservices-based solutions using service-oriented architecture (SOA) principles.
- Deploy and manage applications on Azure cloud platforms, leveraging Kubernetes and other cloud-native technologies.
- Drive best practices in CI/CD, Dev Ops, and operational excellence for seamless deployments and system reliability.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, data scientists, and product teams to define system architecture and development roadmaps.
- Provide technical leadership, making design tradeoffs to balance long-term scalability with short-term execution needs.
- Ensure database performance and scalability by working with relational and No SQL databases.
- Act as a mentor, fostering technical growth within the team and contributing to a culture of continuous learning and innovation
What you'll bring:
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of delivering production-grade applications.
- Strong programming skills in React, Java Script, and Java.
- Hands-on experience with AI/ML technologies, including LLM integrations, Prompt Engineering, Gen AI, and Agentic AI.
- Proficiency in Kafka, Cosmos DB, and RESTful web services.
- Strong understanding of cloud computing (Azure preferred), Kubernetes, and distributed systems.
- Experience in service-oriented architecture (SOA) and scalable system design.
- Expertise in Relational and No SQL databases.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Dev Ops best practices, and operational excellence principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to make strategic tradeoffs in design decisions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, including influence, consensus building, persuasion, and conflict resolution abilities
