Staff Software Engineer (FinTech)

Role Overview: As a backend and data engineer at Agoda, you will be responsible for developing robust backend systems and architecting scalable data pipelines and storage solutions. Your expertise in backend and data engineering will be crucial in optimizing financial technology solutions and driving informed business decisions through reliable data insights. Key Responsibilities: - Own the full life cycle of products, from business requirements to coding standards, agile development, testing, and monitoring - Design, develop, and maintain platforms and data pipelines across fintech - Build stable, scalable, and highly performant systems to meet the dynamic demands of the financial landscape - Mentor team members and collaborate with other teams and departments - Foster cross-functional collaboration to drive product and technology goals - Contribute to recruiting and onboarding exceptional talent - Use a metrics-driven approach to make informed decisions using data - Constantly work to improve your knowledge and skills in software development - Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies - Excellent verbal and written English communication skills - Experience with operational excellence and understanding of metrics, alarms, and dashboards Qualifications Required: - 8+ years of experience with proficiency in Java, Kotlin, Scala, or C# and a track record of developing high-performance applications - Experience with big data technologies like Hadoop, Apache Spark, and advanced knowledge of SQL and data architecture - Hands-on experience with technologies like Spark, ETLs, and queueing systems - Familiarity with GitLab, Kubernetes, and large-scale distributed systems - Experience in leading projects, initiatives, and/or teams with full ownership of systems Company Details: Agoda is an online travel booking platform that connects travelers with a global network of hotels, holiday properties, flights, and more.
