Job Description

As a Scientist at Uber Eats, you will have the opportunity to join the Search Team and make a significant impact on improving the search experience for millions of users worldwide. Your role will involve utilizing your expertise in data analysis, machine learning, and statistical modeling to optimize search algorithms, thus enhancing user satisfaction and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities: - Conduct comprehensive analyses of large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and areas for enhancing search performance. - Design, implement, and optimize search algorithms to improve the relevance and accuracy of search results. - Mentor and lead junior team members while contributing across various aspects of the Search function. - Extract actionable insights from data and effectively communicate findings to stakeholders. - Create and interpret experiments to derive detailed conclusions that drive decision-making. - Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and fellow scientists to establish project objectives and deliver data-driven solutions. - Stay updated on the latest developments in data science, machine learning, and search technologies. - Define success metrics for the teams by developing relevant metrics in collaboration with cross-functional partners. Qualifications Required: - M.S. or Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Operations Research, or related quantitative fields. - Over 10 years of industry experience as an Applied or Data Scientist or equivalent role. - Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, Scala, and ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-Learn. - Strong understanding of MLOps practices including design documentation, testing, and source code management with Git. - Advanced skills in developing and deploying large-scale ML models and optimization algorithms. - Experience in developing causal inference methodologies and experimental design including A/B and market-level experiments. - Solid business acumen and product sense with the ability to translate vague questions into well-defined analyses and success metrics that support business decisions.
