Job Description

A Staff Nurse's responsibilities involve providing direct patient care, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, documenting patient conditions, and educating patients and their families about medical conditions, according to Velents. They work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and may also assist with medical procedures, operate equipment, and maintain a clean and well-equipped patient area, according to Velents. Key responsibilities include: Direct Patient Care: Administering medications, monitoring vital signs, wound care, and assisting with medical procedures. Patient Education: Educating patients and families on medical conditions, treatment plans, and procedures. Documentation: Maintaining accurate patient records, including medical history, current health status, and treatment progress. Collaboration: Working with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans. Supervision: Supervising nursing assistants and students. Equipment and Supplies: Maintaining and operating medical equipment, preparing supplies for procedures, and ensuring a clean and safe patient environment. Safety: Identifying and addressing potential hazards in the workplace. Emergency Care: Treating emergency injuries and assisting in emergencies. Quality Assurance: Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
