Job Description

1. Patient Care

Provide direct nursing care to patients (bathing, feeding, mobility assistance).
Monitor vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, respiratory rate).
Assess patient condition and report changes to doctors promptly.
Ensure comfort, safety, and emotional support to patients.

2. Clinical Duties

Administer medications as per doctors prescription.
Assist doctors during rounds and procedures.
Perform wound dressing, injections, IV cannulation, and catheterization.
Maintain strict infection control practices.

3. Patient Documentation

Update patient medical records accurately.
Record treatments, assessments, and nursing observations.
Maintain medication administration records (MAR) and duty notes.

4. Coordination and Communication

Coordinate with doctors, lab technicians, pharmacists, and other hospital staff.
Communicate effectively with patient families about care procedures.
Handover patient reports and care plans during shift changes.

5. Emergency Care

Respond quickly to medical emergencies and code situations.
Provide first aid and basic life support (BLS).
Prepare emergency equipment (oxygen, suction, crash cart).

6. Patient Education

Educate patients and attendants on post-treatment care.
Provide instructions related to medication, diet, and lifestyle.

7. Safety and Compliance

Follow hospital policies, nursing protocols, and ethical standards.
Ensure proper disposal of biomedical waste.
Maintain hygiene and infection prevention.

8. Equipment Handling

Operate medical equipment like monitors, infusion pumps, ECG machines.
Ensure equipment cleanliness and report malfunctions.

9. Ward Management

Manage patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
Maintain inventory of medicines, supplies, and linens.
Support junior nurses and nursing assistants.
