Staff Nurse

Role & responsibilities

2.1.1 Awareness of the departmental vision, mission, objectives and its implementation.

2.1.2 Performs the duties as per the role and expectation of a nurse in providing Comprehensive patient care.

2.1.3 Knowledge about type of patient care and their requirements.

2.1.4 Interaction, co-operation and team spirit with other staff members.

2.1.5 Performs assigned duties as per the departments protocol.

2.1.6 Performs all special assignments as roster.

2.1.7 Ensures the client is provided with appropriate information to make informed decisions relating to treatment and care reflects client’s preferences.

2.1.8 Able to discuss ethical issues related to area of practice with clients/families and the health care team.

2.1.9 Ensures documentation is current, accurate, and timely and maintains confidentiality about patient care.

2.1.10 Demonstrates computer skills necessary to organize data for essential care delivery.

2.1.11 Evaluates client’s progress toward expected outcomes, including treatments and health education, in collaboration with the client and the health care team.

2.1.12 Evaluates the effectiveness of nursing care seeking assistance and knowledge as necessary.

2.1.13 Educates client to maintain and promote health according to client needs.

2.1.14 Takes appropriate nursing actions in emergency situations and other situations that compromise client safety.

2.1.15 Takes responsibility for maintaining own professional development, including mandatory organizational requirements, updating knowledge to reflect best practice, and sharing knowledge with others.

2.1.16 Contributes to the support, direction and teaching of colleagues to enhance professional development.

2.1.17 Maintains a professional portfolio

2.2.

2.2.1 Demonstrates knowledge on AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank) and GST (Greet, smile, thank).

2.2.2 Utilizes effective communication skills in reporting pertinent information on time.

2.2.3 Maintains professional decorum and communicates in English/Hindi in the areas of work with colleagues.

2.2.4 Inform Team leader/Supervisor of current activities on the unit and reports unusual occurrence, incidents or other problems and also follow up as needed

2.2.5 Utilizes changes of shift report to accurately and effectively to communicate patient condition and intervention

2.2.6 Ensure all documentation is clear concise and timely.

2.2.7 Utilize appropriate clinical terminology

2.3.

2.3.1 Demonstrates commitment to the patients of Medanta and their health improvement.

2.3.2 Practices nursing in a manner that the client determines as culturally safe.

2.3.3 Promotes an environment that enables client safety, independence, quality of life, and health.

2.3.4 Maintains infection control principles.

2.3.5 Evaluates environmental safety, completes hazard identification and risk assessments.

2.3.6 Proactive and responsible in maintaining health and safety of patients.

2.4

2.4.1 Monitor vital signs.

2.4.2 Closely monitoring patients with cardiac/pulse oximetry.

2.4.3 Administer medication as per doctor’s advice.

2.4.4 Carryout’s investigations, if required.

2.4.5 Provide patient & family education.

3. EDUCATION

Keep medical records current for all patients.

4.1 Appropriate qualification and statutory nursing registration in the state – GNM/BSC/MSC

4.2 Valid BLS/ACLS provider certificate.

4. EXPERIENCE AND OTHER QUALIFICATION

5.1 At least 1 year of clinical experience with specialty module training
